I bought my dynamo for a vertical set up. Decided to switch it to horizontal today. Didn't realize it before because it was in vertical postion, but the image displays upside down on the monitor. I have the manual for it and there's a switch the says sync polarity (I'm assuming this is what what change it) but the switch doesn't exist on the chasis, just an outline for one.

?

Rotated 180 degrees, or flipped vertically? If it's just rotated, flip the monitor around. ;)

If it's reversed vertically, you may need to reverse the wires controlling the vertical yoke. I don't want to try to explain how.

Rotated 180. I could flip the monitor upside down, but I want to fix this the right way if possible.

Also noticed the sync line doesn't connect to the normal video connector. It's split off to another pin behind the standard video connector. The extra connector isn't in the manual. :annoyed:

It's weird, I removed the sync and attatched it to the normal Horiz/Composite pin. Video rolled and horizontal freq pot did nothing. The monitor is labled for US region too.

Video connector, you can see the sync line running behind it to a 3 pin connector. Sync only goes to far right pin.

End result with monitor in normal posistion, nice huge purple color blotches on the bottom.

It has nothing to do with sync.

Split the deflection yoke plug and reverse vert and horizontal scan., or simply reverse the connections on the yoke.

After

The purity error at the bottom is due to the CRT having been rotated, degaussing would probably fix that.

Not sure what I did, but I was poking around and found a connector going to the chasis that had another spot to plug it in right behind where it was. Swapped it over and the picture flipped the right way.

Now how do I go about degaussing this bastard?

OK your minitor board has provision to do what I suggested in the before/after pics :)

You need to get a degaussing wand.

I consulted the manual, and supposedly there is a spot for manual degaussing and installation of a push button. It says to remove bridge P34 near a twin pin connector. It then says to run a twin cable from the connector to a push button. I cut the bridge on top of the chasis, and then jumped the two connectors together for a split second. Nothing happened. Does that bridge also connect underneath you think?

The switch will be in series with the PTC (positve temperature coefficient) thermistor. When cold it conducts then stops conducting when warm.

So the switch will do nothing untill the PTC has a chance to cool down, try running the monitor and degausse after say 20- 30 mins.

I should add that the initial auto degausse at switch on should fix it, if not you may have to invest in a degaussing wand.

Bump!

It is kind of hard to see from the pic....

But are you just reversing the Yellow and Green Wires?

I just realized that Most Dreamcast Shooters display upside down.... And I can't rotate my Neo-29 monitor the other way (Frame Won't fit). The games were probably designed it that way to keep us bastards from playing the shit on cabs.

Rather than hacking the plug,
I was going to install a switch that goes like this:
