Hey everyone,
I just recently purchased a Big Red cab and I'm having some trouble with the colors. It seems like the red doesn't appear at all, and the green shows up as yellow. the white and blue look just fine, but become overwhelming during game play. I've played with the color-adjusting knobs in the back, but no matter what i do I can't get the green or red to improve. Here are some screen shots:

I am not the least bit savvy when it comes to repairing these things. I was scared to even adjust the colors, seeing as they're located so close to danger. Do I need a cap kit? Is my monitor shit? What else can be done from here? Is there anyone in the Boston area that would want to come by and check it out for a few bucks? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
- Matt

So if you adjust the red and it didnt do anything(on back of monitor) next thing Id check is if the cord is attached properly to the monitor from the jamma harness.

I'll have to do it again, but it looked like the entire monitor would turn a shade of red. The block that should be red stayed with whatever the background color was for the most part.

Which cord should I be looking for? Does it run right from the adjusting knobs?

Thanks for the help by the way.

Is there anything I would want to avoid around there (don't want to get a jolt)? So, once i find them i just make sure everything is connected? That doesn't seem too bad.

That's what my 4 slot looked like when I got it at auction. Find the video harness going to the monitor chasis. Will be about 5 cables R,G,B probably black for video ground and a yellow for video sync. Pull the little white molex connector they go into off the monitor (make sure it's off obviously). Flip the connector over and look at the pins inside the plastic. In the case of my cab the pin was bent so no contact from the red signal was making it to the monitor. I simply stripped the wire out and wrapped it around the corresponding pin on the chasis, and then put the connector back on sandwiching it in place.

You are correct sir!!!!! It took me a while to figure out what you meant exactly, but when I found the molex connector all it took was a little shake to notice the problem. My friend says he can replaced the molex with little effort so it should be up and running in no time! Thanks so much! You guys were a huge help.

Before you rip apart the molex connector... make sure you don't just simply have cracked solder joints on the monitor's side of the connector.

If that were the case how would I go about fixing something like that?

solder the pins on the underside of the chasis. if it's an original WG k7whatever, you'll probably have to remove some screws to get a look at the underside. You'd probably be able to see the crack when you wiggle the connector. The frame plate base is probably blocking it. I'd discharge it before going that far, and you're stepping out of n00b territory into frying your arms off territory if done incorrectly.

Try just wrapping the red wire around the pin first and sandwiching the connector back on. If you get a steady picture after wiggling the connector then it's probably not a cracked solder joint.
