Neobitz DIY problems with MVS

I've bought the Neobitz DIY RGB -> SVIDEO converter and have assembled everything and hooked it up to my MVS 2 slot board.

The only problem I got is the following:
I get a picture on the SVIDEO, but the picture is kind of green-ish and has some slight distortions/runnings through it. The image is solid and center on the screen, it's just not correct.

The picture on the RGB is in perfect order, correct color and distortion free.

What could I have done wrong? I hope someone here can help me.

You might have switched the chroma and luma lines, if that doesnt fix it then you might have installed something on the board wrong.

another thing to check is that you've picked up the RGB signals at their final condition, i.e. as delivered to jamma edge

if you pick a signal before its fully conditioned by resistors or summed by another signal you could get some strange video results

worth a look...

I did have the lines for chroma and luma switched at first, because I did not get any picture at all.

And the RGB lines are picked up from the Jamma edge on the Jamma connector (I used a Jamma connector to get all the signals, not directly from the board.)

Could it also be some kind of shielding/interference. That maybe a ground line is touching the luma or chroma line on the SVIDEO connector? (It's so damn small....)

I'm pretty confident I assembled the NeoBitz correctly, with all the correct bits in order and right polarity.

I had exactly this problem when I did mine. I was quick to blame my assembly of the DIY kit, but I think it turned out that the S-video jack was not wired well (leads were touching each other). Otherwise, definitely double-check the big surface-mounted chip.

It it a good idea to use the (don't know the exact english term...) shrink tube to shield the individual contacts on the SVIDEO jack?

Okay... like you guys said, all problems where because of my (bad) soldering.

The image was greenish, because the red color was not reaching the SMD chip (3rd left leg was not firmly attached)

The interference was because of the wires not being isolated on the S-VIDEO conector.

Thanks for the help.

How do I order one of these Neobitz encoders ? I'd like to try one on a TURBO DUO (Japanese PCE) to convert the rgb lines to S-Video.

The rgb in this console is very weak...

We do not have stock as of the moment -- Mr. Kurtz is moving, and has not had the opportunity to produce any as of late for us to stock or for him to sell. That information is a month or two old, but I suspected Jeff was going to be busy for a bit.

I will contact him again and see if he is ready to provide some hardware.
