Hi, I have an Alien vs Predator arcade board and the picture works perfectly, but I can't get the sound to work... I have only tried to play it on my super gun, and I was hoping someone might have suggestions on what the problem might be and who I can contact if I do need to repaire it... Thanks in advance

Did you try connecting the stereo out from the front of the motherboard to your TV?

There might be a setting in the test menu also, but I haven't had the game for a long time.

Hi 2point0,

I just checked the board and there are red and white sockets to plug in the cables. I don't have extra cables to try, but am I suppose to plug the red and white wires from the arcade board into the tv? I tthink I already know the answer, but I just thought I would double check with you... Thanks

Correct.;)

Although, you may or may not need an amp of some sort.

most likely would need an amp to get stereo out of that and wont be able to just plug it straight in to the TV as tvs dont have stereo amps built in AFAIK. To get volume though you should just go into the test menu and check to make sure it is set to Jamma mono and not stereo. Turn the volume up on the board itself and that should fix the problem and give you normal volume. If it is already set to mono then you may have a problem with the board itself though I would not have the slightest idea what that would be.

I wouldnt plug it directly into the TV without any kind of attentuation(circuit or cables) as the level may be too high for line level input. You could damage your TV speakers since its an amplified signal.

Okay, I went into the test menu and checked the sound ram snd it came back ok.

The sound mode was set to Stereo(Q sound) and the only other option is Monaural.

I used to have a sitdown cab and I use to play Dungeons & Dragons on it, and all I had to do was connect it to my jamma harness, and it worked fine... I just tested it on the supergun and the pic is fine, but there is no sound just like the AvP board... So I am pretty sure that the Alien vs Predator board is fine I just need to figure out how to connect it properly.

By the way I just got a dynamo cab that is set up to play Neo Geo games, with a 4 slot motherboard and both capcom games have the same problem that they have on the supergun, but like I said the D&D board worked fine on my old cab with out me doing anything to it... What do you guys think?

did you switch it to mono in the test menu and turn the volume up on the A board?

Stereo will not work unless it has an amp to power it and it hooked up properly. If it is set to stereo therefore you will not get any volume at all.

Sorry to state the obvious but its worth a shot.

yeah, I did switch it to mono and turned it up, but I still have no sound... I also tried the D&D board, that worked fine on my sitdown cab that I once had , and it also has no sound... So I am not sure what the problem is... Maybe my new cab is not able to support the capcom boards sound requirements.

I dont know much about MVS stuff but I do know there is some sort of wiring issue for MVS that does not allow normal Jamma audio. Albeit an easy modification, Im sure someone can tell you more about this. I believe the 1 slot motherboards though ARE compatible with normal Jamma mono.

Anyone care to elaborate further?

If that is the case then I would say it is the way the speakers are wired in your cab and not necessarily the board. I guess that still wouldnt expain the original supergun question though.

Hard to tell, but is it in an MVS setup? Mine didnt work either, but putting it in my Jamma cab worked fine. So keep that in mind. There is the guide to make a switch so the MVS setup follows a more Jamma-style sound standard.

yeah, the cab I have now is an MVS setup... As it is right now, I can't play PGM or capcom games in it... So it looks like I need to make the jamma modifications and then get a 1 slot Neo Geo motherboard, so I can just swap games out.

Hey Xian Xi,

What is a 12v? Sorry to ask, but I'm not familiar with all this just yet... As you can tell I'm still learning.
