What happened to the 100 posts before you sell rule? I remember working damn hard to get my 100 posts to start selling!

Point being, the sale threads are littered with a bunch of noobs who want to sell things, then change their minds, do shady shit, "please delete", etc. It's a terrible mess to sort through...and a higher potential of people getting ripped.

Someone's gotta be with me on this one?

It's a good idea in theory but doesn't do much good in the end.

I mean, instead of having annoying newb buyers/sellers with 0 posts, you just have the same annoying newb buyers/sellers with 100 posts.

There should also be a review over their posts when they're eligible to hit the Marketplace, I bet people would spam for the most part until they get the minimum limit.

Though what about people like me with a seller/buyer rating of 10 but with less than 100 post's does that automatically make me a noob ?

I like the idea of a market mod. As long as they aren't too harsh in a approving a trader and are willing to publicly back down on a bad decision it could work.

I agree. I dont see the point in having 100 post. People will just post like crazy over nothing to get that number so they could sale. :oh_no:

Not if they get banned first. I waited for 100 posts before I sold even though I could post sale threads.

What about having their hreads to be approved before it being posted?

*ish a Neo n00b* :multi_co:

Couple of thoughts:

1. Why couldn't there be a feedback limit versus a posting limit? Say, someone has to have at least 5 positive feedback before they can sell. n00bs like me would have to buy from forum members and see how everything works before we start selling, and the boards wouldn't get spammed up.

2. I've been selling video game gear for over 2 years on eBay, and have 250+ feedback. Would/could there be some kind of way to link your eBay feedback to your forum feedback? That way an established eBay seller wouldn't have to jump through any hoops and get right to business, plus the board members could look for negative feedback on eBay.

+1

I spent most of my n00b posting time in Tech Support section being helpful.

I like the idea of a mod that can reign supreme over the marketplace section and approve sellers with <100 posts.

The idea of linking feedback from eBay is intriguing but how can you reliably do this? It seems it would be easy to fake or to do other things like work in collusion with another person who has the account. My personal eBay account is sitting at 504 and my business one is at 49 but how do I really "prove" to a moderator that they are mine?

I know, I was thinking about that too. It's just kinda frustrating to have finally established myself as a reliable online seller, only to have to start from scratch again.

100 post to sell sure but not to buy

I was signed up before that rule was made i guess. When i first started to sell i had maybe 25 post if i was lucky. Never had any problems because i made it a point to buy first get some rep on the forums then sell. Which that approach worked out fine for me and havent had any problems. Althought i would have been fine with haveing to post 100x to sell but deff not to buy.I think if you have lower feedback and or not a long standing respected member you should half to send/pay first.

This usually saves you alot of greif, in regards to being ripped off anyhow.

I do have my own spin on this plan however so here it goes.

1.If you must 100 post sell.
A. The post should be check once its reaches 100 for spaming before aprouved to sell.
B. I think only post that should count towards you post total(which might already be so ) is post in general discussion, suggestion, feedback and tech forums.Or any other part of the forums that add to the community and make you apart of it.This way you cant run to the war room and post like crazy for your 100 post (lonesage:smirk: ).

2. I think adding a feedback way point should be required aswell. I dont know say 5-10 posotive buying/tradeing feedback. This way on top of being active in the community you also have a good rep based on the way you handle yourself during transactions. Also it has already been said i think, you can expereince how thing are and should be done here.

3. Ebay feedback linking is indeed interesting but problem matice aswell. You can always link to it in your sig anyhow. I am a firm believer that feedback from other places is good to judge if you personally want to do buisness with someone but should have no bareing on your rep in the place you are trying to buisness at that point in time. In this regard i would half to vote NO on this one.

4. I would also like to add in that you should only be able to sell so many things at once or so many transactions at once that involve alot of items.Until those are finished you shouldnt be able to sell anythingelse.Like maybe 10 items or transactions at a time or something. I say this only because i have noticed that alot of new folk and long time members get into a bind when trying to do to many trasactions at a time . Now i know this would be a hinderance on big time sellers who do alot of buisness here but you could maybe throw in your own rules to help this issue.

I have alot more things to add but at this moment i must retire to the bed for alittle sleep. This should do for now but i will be back:) . Talk it over and ill be here latter to delve into this issue further.

P.S. If you notice my post count and my feedback. I am not being biest i am potentionally ruleing myself out as a seller cheers.....

Thx for reading this far into my rant.

I remember once someone posted a link to someone else's ebay feedback saying it was their own. He got busted. That was a funny time...

I think the posts leading to someone's first listing should be reviewed. Having the 100 post in mind would just lead to 100 useless posts so they can finally sell something if they really did follow it.
For your first few sales, you should be required to not only take a picture of what you're selling, but also have a print of your user name physically in the picture. At least with that we know you're not stealing the image from another source. People that state that they have so many eBay positive feedback can't always be trusted, you're held more accountable on eBay's turf.
If you only accept money orders, and you don't have any feedback at all, you're asking a lot for someone to trust they're getting what they paid for. Especially as far as refunds.

So anyway, I recommend first time sellers have the following:

- Entries from first 100 posts should be modded in order to pick out the people that are really only here because it's cheaper than eBay to sell their stuff.

- Pictures are required for what you're selling. Until you have developed respectable feedback, maybe around 8, you should include a physical print of your user name in the photo. Veteran seller don't necessarily need pictures as long as they've built up a good reputation.

- Have a PayPal account. So what if you give someone negative feedback, you still haven't gotten your money back if you paid by money order.

- Anyone who scams a buyer should be banned. Mistakes can be made by sellers sometimes, but stealing from members is not acceptable.

I think I started selling before making 100 posts, but at least I've been honest with my sales.
