Hey everyone. I'm new to the forums. I've been reading them for about a week now, and I decided to join. I don't own any Neo Geo hardware/software yet. After looking into my options, I've decided that I want to get a consolised MVS system. After reading this thread (http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83207 ), I've gathered that some people have had problems playing some newer games on the older 1-slot boards. So, do some of the more knowledgeable folks around here think it would be better to look into getting a 2-slot? What do you guys (and girls) think?

Also, a question about joysticks. Can you use the standard AES joysticks with a consolised MVS?

And one more question. The most recent Unibios is 2.3, correct? Is it known to cause any problems with any games?

Sorry for being so unknowledgeable.

Welcome to the madness,

1. You can use either the AES joysticks or pads on a CMVS (Consolized MVS).

2. Most current bios is the 2.3, there is a link in the Tech Support section to further assist you, and there are some issues with some games and those are addressed on Razoola's site: http://www.universebios.com/.

Yes, you can use AES sticks or any stick with AES controller ports with the CMVS if it was properly done. Here are some links with examples of controllers you can use:

(I have a pair of these, which gives a more authentic arcade machine type feel having two matching joysticks with made of wood and HAPP parts, AND no one can get upset about one person's stick being better than the other, or needing a "better" stick to win).

n00b with some basic MVS questions...

Hello everyone!

:help:

I'm brand new to the forums and the Neo scene in general. I just recently purchased a MVS 4-slot system with World Heroes, Art of Fighting, Football Frenzy, and KoF 95 included. The system has seen better days, but the monitor and controls are in good working order.

I have some basic questions relating to caring for and maintaining the system...I apologize for my n00bness, but I've never owned an arcade machine before and would like to take good care of it...

1.) Power maintenance -- Is it better to leave the system on 24/7 or shut it off when not using it (I'm wondering about power spike issues damaging motherboard if it's shut off and on). Also, is it OK to shut the system off while a game is playing or should I go into test mode first? Is there any specific surge protector or voltage issues I need to be aware of? The place I bought the machine from appeared to have it plugged into a normal outlet...

2.) Regarding the light above the screen on the cabinet, where the small game flyers are listed... This bulb is currently dead in the machine. Is this a special part that needs to be ordered or can I find a replacement at a Home Depot/Menards/Lowe's/etc?

3.) In case the fuse goes out, do replacements need to be special ordered or can they be found easily?

4.) I ordered a copy of Samurai Shodown 2 for MVS which should be arriving shortly. How do I turn off the censorship? Is this an option in the test mode, or do I need some kind of mobo/software modification to make this happen? I think I remember reading in the manual that there are "game options" under each game's DIP setting in test mode...

Thank you so much for your help, it's much appreciated!! :multi_co:
