Where can I find another battery for my MV1-C? Don't need to replace it yet, but would like to know for future reference.
segasonicfan said:I'm 99% sure that batt is a CR2032. I sold my MV-1C a while ago so I'm sorry I can't check for you. However, these batts are extremely common for memory backup in all sorts of electronics. Saturn, Dreamcast, PS2, all CPU mobos, and tons of other electronics use them. It's just a 3v battery meant to fit the specific holder for it. You can holders and the batteries at www.jameco.com or Radioshack or anywhere really...I bet Home Depot has em too :P
segasonicfan said:Sorry, I have definitely not. I have replaced MV-1 batts though and they aren't rechargeable at all. They are just 3.6v batts like in CPS2 hardware. I somehow doubt the MV-1C uses a rechargeable batt but hey, I really don't know. In any case, any 3v batt should suffice for powering the memory settings. Tabs are no big deal, Jameco does sell holders for the lithium batts that you can easily solder in.

MKL said:The mounting tabs are the same as the CR2430TVF in this datasheet (15.3mm spacing for the positive tabs):

The battery on the MV1B and 1C is marked VG2430 or IVR2430. Vertical mount batteries from other brands (notably Panasonic) don't match the Toshiba ones. Of course one may well adapt the different batteries somehow.

All the MVS boards use rechargeable batteries inluding all the one slot boards new or old, nothing like CPS2 batteries which are 1/2 AA lithium batteries ( non rechargeable)
If you use regular lithium coin cell batteries and holders then you need to disable the charging circuit on the MVS board or you run the (severe!) risk of the battery leaking, rupturing, or in worst case scenarios - exploding/burning.
The compounds inside are HIGHLY toxic to humans and will cause severe damage to the logic board too. It's not something you want to fsck around with.
