Hey folks !
So I dropped off my AES system to get modded.
Im getting http://www.oldschoolgamer.ca out in Edmonton Alberta to do it.
Basically, Im getting everything done to it !

- Video, Stereo Left, Stereo Right, Composite Video
- S-video
- Unibios
- Blue LED reset button

The system is also getting a thorough cleaning...

has anyone here used this shop ?

I haven't, but I believe it's very reputable and the guy who runs it is a member here AFAIK.

Edit: the guy's username here is omnedon

The search engine, while sometimes kind of janky, is your friend.

Im using a JVC 34" tube T.V.
I dont think its worth it.

S-Video looks great.

From what I hear, component doesn't look much better than S-video, at least not enough to justify the price difference.

S-video is perfect for that kind of TV. You're really gonna like those mods.

Oh, 1 question:

Im using a Joytech Audio/video system selector. Will this affect anything ?
Supposedly, this is a high end quality peice.
My TV only have 1 set composite video in, no S-Video.
The S-Video will go from my NEO GEO into the Joytech.

Well... you could run into problems with the S-video.. unless your selector can convert the signal to composite. If it doesn't convert it your picture will show up in black and white.

The S-video -> Composite conversion in your switcher would make the visuals take a hit, but its still worth getting S-video for a future TV.

Composite is just gay. I think going from svid then converting it to composite will have no noticable difference, except perhaps a deterioration in quality if anything. It is like taking a three lane street and bottle necking to a one lane street.

I noticed in the OP that you are getting a Composite mod tho, are you sure you don't mean component? Only reason I ask is because AES is perfectly capable of Composite without any mods.

Theres no point in upgrading the output of your Neo if the input to the TV isnt gonna change. Thats like getting a 360 and connecting via an RF.

Wait a minute the KV36FS13 Sony 36" has component video jacks also. I know it says 3x AV plugs but one of them are for the component video hook up. BUY IT!!!!!! You are basically getting a free 5.1 surround sound system and saving a few $.

BTW, do you see those three plugs at the top row on the back of your Joytech Selector? Those red, blue and green plugs are component video. That is the best video connection you can get in the US/Canada NTSC signal standard. So definitely get like a Sony WEGA/Trinitron. I got mine for like $350 at Sears 27" 3 years ago. I am sure they are cheaper now.

As for the TV you have now, chances are that you won't get any video what so ever from the S-video into composite. They are seperately wired all together. My $80 Pelican Selector won't do it for sure.

I haven't been able to find a non-widescreen wega for at least a year locally, so good luck finding one. Might want to call a few places first instead of just showing up.
