Hey guys, I've been thinking about getting a CPS3 and wanna know if I should get one? The battery situation makes me not want to but I know I would get it changed when it needs it.

CPS3 is my personaly favorite hardware. Even though there aren't many titles on teh system, the ones that are there are fantastic. If you're a street fighter fan, or a capcom fan, CPS3 is for you. Aside from 3rd strike, all of the games on the system are relatively cheap.

BTW, I offer CPS3 battery swaps if you do decide to take the plunge.

Great games on this system.
And since it became a little cheaper these days, don't forget to give a try to Warzard / Red Earth, only four characters but it's Capcom style and art at its best.

Thanks to the eulogistic posts on the forum that convinced me to take a chance on this fantastic game.

i remember reading that its best to have a mobo for every game and you shouldnt really swap the games around.

is this true?

ive never really seen the software for sale by itself anyhow.

why are the carts such pieces of shit?

The games don't really interest me, and the fact it's so fragile is even a further deterent.

The games are great!!!! They only seem to be fragile during shipping, to be honest. I'm not any more or less gentle with them, than I would be any MVS cart. The only cart I have had die is a USA JOJO 1 cart, which from what I have heard may be the most sensitive cart out there.

Avoid it like the plague until the encryption is broken.

Unless you like handling expensive time bombs.

The difference is MVS carts could probably survive a nuclear fallout, and I've never really been drawn toward any capcom titles. Besides some CPS2 stuff.

Third Strike and Jojo's 2 make the CPS3 a must own for me. The hardware can be touchy as hell, but in my opinion is the ultimate for 2D fighters simply because of third strike. Carts die all the time, but they aren't that sensitive. As long as you don't have monkey paws you should be fine.

Unless you're a diehard fan its a rather worthless system. It's for absolute collectors. It has so little games and the one you want is 3rd strike probably. It's so expensive too. Its just not that pratical. A cps2 is a much better investment. Unless you're looking for 3rd strike perfection its kinda pointless.

Truth,
the most risky is battery swapping but processing step by step you don't even need particular skills for it...
Besides compared to CPS3, KILLER INSTINCT hardware is a real bitch when we come to it.

If you are interested, here's Razoola's link that reports about Wovou's method who explained how you must swapp batteries on the different type of carts :
http://cps2shock.retrogames.com/cps3/

Now as far as I recall the most difficult part concerns carts that have the little black wire where you have to not damage the solder and cut softly the original battery from its leg in order to use it for the new one you will install.
Once you did it you will use it the old battery leg each time to solder the new battey on so you won't face the problem anymore.

I wish someone would find a way to "razoola" these back to life... The market would either bottom out or explode for them when someone can bring them back to life without Capcom's help.

I can't wait for that day! Erm, if it ever comes, that is.

I guess it would explode.
But from what I understood it seems more complicated than for the CPS2 and required expensive equipements.
I hope someone will find a way for it too but actually we just have some resting dead kits waiting for an eventual revival and a few people collecting dead CPS3 kits waiting for it to make money :spock: Time will tell...
