totally excited, it will be probably once again superior to stateside released version.

Not superior, just different. And EBA had more features in it.

No ROM dump yet... :mad_2:

Have you even played the original?

Ouendan is a much more realized game than EBA would ever be.

Does it support the rumble pack? EBA does.

EDIT. It does.

To be honest I felt the first wasn't actually that good.

But ok.

I totally disagree, but to each his own. I have both and could not get into Ouendan at all but had a great time with EBA

What? How is Ouendan a "much more realized game" than EBA?

In Ouendan, the music complimented the scenarios, which isn't really the case with EBA.

I guess it would be near-impossible to localise something such as Ouendan, largely due to the cultural differences.

So... a goofy song about a girl from China complements a scenario where you're helping two policemen fight off space robots? :conf:

I admit that I don't know what they're saying in every song so I can't say for sure if the music really complements any of the scenarios, but to me all the song choices seem equally as random as Ouendan as it does in EBA, save for the "sentimental" songs (Over the Distance on Ouendan and You're the Inspiration on EBA). Whether a song "fits" the scenario doesn't really affect my enjoyment of the game in either direction.

I'm probably biased because I played EBA first, but I honestly do feel that it's the better game. The extra features make a big difference to me - it's annoying not being able to see what my high score for a song is from the song select on Ouendan, plus you don't even get to see what the full notecount breakdown was for your high score (it's more important for me to be able to see how many 100's I got on a song to be able to judge how much I could improve it). And being unable to skip the song intros... three words, Ready Steady Go. Ugh.

Also I think the biggest argument against Ouendan being a "more realized" game than EBA is that a lot of its note patterns are a lot more erratic. This isn't a big deal until you get to the highest difficulty level where you have less time to react - there is no easy segueway into the highest difficulty, because the first song is making you hit successive notes on completely different sides of the screen. It's very hard to react to something like that, you practically have to memorize the patterns just to have any chance of doing well on the first stage. By contrast, playing Walkie Talkie Man on Hard Rock is nowhere near as difficult since the patterns are simple and don't stray too far around the screen. Sure it gets more difficult later, but the difficulty curve for this was implemented much better in EBA.

I can understand people preferring Ouendan because they played that first and they're more familiar with that game. But I swear I once saw someone say that they preferred Ouendan to EBA purely because they had no idea what was going on in the songs and scenarios in Ouendan, that knowing everything about what's going on isn't as fun...?!?

I've finished both Ouendan and EBA (in that order) and enjoyed both a lot. I'd say I like EBA a bit more in general as it is more polished, I hope Ouendan 2 goes into that direction.

The only thing I like more in Ouendan than EBA it's the chars: they are much more "freaky" and "losers" than the perfect guys and gals in EBA, specially the football teen and his girl, the 2 sisters, the runner, the mother.... Only one I found like the japanese ones was the Captain.

PS: TEH ROMZ are already out.

I have beaten both, and I must say that the hardest level on Ouendan is much more difficult than on EBA. I do prefer Ouendan as a game, but EBA is a lot more refined. BBH is correct in saying that the note sequences in EBA flow more logically, whereas in Ouendan they are much more erratic, and yes, you do have to memorize the songs on the hardest level. That being said, I am out the door to go pick up Ouendan 2. Impressions to follow.

I actually found EBA more difficult. I finished Ouendan in the hardest level, but in EBA, I'm still stuck at Jumpin' Jack Flash in that level. It's more a physical problem: there's a part where you have to quickly alternate between roulettes and sequences, and I need to tilt my DS to do a roulette so I don't have time to put it back in the regular position, it just falls from my hands.

PS: I already have TEH ROMZ and reached the last (or prior to last) song in normal mode

Well I played about 7 levels already. Really enjoying the game. Nothing too new mechanics wise, but the artwork looks better, as well as the sound quality seems better to me. I personally like the songs better in this one as well. Like the first one, stories range from believable to absurd, but still great fun. If you liked the first one, you will love this one. Cannot wait to play through the rest of the game today. So damn addicting.....

PS One a personal note, without giving too much away, I think we all can relate to the situation in the very first story.....that one really hit home for me because I have had to experience the frustration the hero of the story is going though.

Just beat normal mode. This game feels more like the Japanese version of EBA than Ouendan 2. All the improvements of EBA are present, except the 3D world map that totally sucked in EBA.

About the songs, I'll just say one thing: I wanna be a POPSTAR! :loco:

L'Arc~en~Ciel is one of the most consistently good bands there is, so if you don't like that, you'd might as well not listen to anything.

I just finished normal as well. The game does feel like the Japanese version of EBA, but I like it much better than EBA. The stories get weirder as you go, but definitely cool.

I do not want to spoil anything, but I must say that the last song makes this entire game. It is themed perfectly with the story and just flat out rocks. The game is worth buying just for the last song. Cannot wait to see the bonus stages. Damn, I just cannot get enough of the Ouendan/EBA series. Although I have a feeling that hard and very hard difficult modes are going to be a real pain in the ass. Cannot wait for EBA2. You know its coming......

I thought Read Steady Go was an awesome final track in the first game.

Some of these levels on the hard setting are extremely frustrating. 2 uses much more complex patters than 1. Almost threw my DS a couple of times.

I didn't like that much the final song in Ouendan 2, I actually found the prior-to-last better. Oh well. And of course, Ready Steady Go and Jumpin' Jack Flash were more apotheosic to me.

I agree some patterns are becoming frustrating, specially those that are not a line or curve, but a fucking zig-zag back and forth :very_ang:

I've got a bonus song.

Ready Steady Go was just too hard perhaps... still stuck on that in Ouendan for hard mode whereas I've beaten every level at every difficulty in EBA. Awaiting my copy of O2 from Japan as we speak :)
