Well all right people, it's been a number of years but I'm finally getting back into the arcade scene. Since my 19" monitor on my first cab went white a couple of months ago, I've been on the lookout for a larger 25 or 29" cab, with a large control panel for 2 player gaming goodness. (i loved my first super dodge ball cab, but always felt a little cramped playing with 2 - 200 lb guys on a 26" width cab.
So I was looking locally in the interweb and boy what a find.
Say hello to THIS! my (almost new) dedicated Batman Forever! I did a little research on this one, Rumor is they only sold about 1000 of this crappy game because nobody wanted em, which is great for me cuz the cab itself has little wear, the monitor is bright & crisp & looked like a solid buy. so I ponied up the cash (375 CDN was his asking price) & took 'er back to Calgary.
Turns out the Cab is actually manufactured by Capcom USA, it's got a bright 25" Phillips M08X monitor. Switching Power Supply, The cab is also already setup for the Sega STV Titan USA mobo, with Batman Forever game board with Dedicated sound board. (one of the few titles with Stereo Sound)
I knew that 3 button layout looked a little too perfect. Installing a 6 button layout will be no problem with this one.
The system bios reads just over 11000 credits, witch is amazing for a cab made just 11 years ago. Although I am tempted to pick up a few games (Die Hard Arcade) and maybe a Jap bios to play Radiant Silvergun & Groove on Fight. truth is the cab is just to big & beautiful to be stuck in the Sega Saturn Era.
I have exciting plans for this monster. I'm still debating weather I should go the CPS2 route & wire that way. Or I could Mame it up using my Modded Xbox...
In any case I've got quite a bit of work to do Sanding & refinishing this beast, new t molding is a must but I'm excited to get moving on this project, I'll be sure to keep you all posted on it's progress.
Comments, questions welcome. Also if you guys know of any good sources for STV carts, hook a brother up.
Thanks.
Forever... for now
