well it seems like it to me, I've completed New Super Mario Bros(lack of challenge), Princess Peach(same here) but Yoshi's Island turned out to be a real beauty, + it's probably the most challenging platformer that came out during last few years - getting 100% on each level got very hard in later levels, especially 5th world.
it is quite similar to Yoshi's Island known from Snes and GBA, but I found it extremely fun to play.
so what's your opinion?

:oh_no: no way man,in my opinion yoshy ds is really lame, once again Artoon fucked it up.
dont even compared it to new super mario(even tough easier).
yoshy ds suffers from a really boring and lazy level design.
i was schocked.but Nintendo should be happy with it couse it sold very well,at least in japan.
it is even more sad when compared to the snes classic.

actually I know what press tought about it, they were complaining about difficulty and similarities, but as I love original Yoshi's Island, this one gets much praise from me.
level designs are actually quite clever, music is cute and fits action on the screen.
I don't think you got into it seriously, just blazing through levels is not the same as going with peeking in every corner to find all the flowers, red coins, etc...
artoon was developing it but Nintendo staff was supervising whole project.
maybe that's why game is so similar to original yoshi's island.
New Super Mario Bros DS was fun and all, but lack of challenge disappointed me.

The new super mario is shite.

how Did Artoon fuck up yoshi ds? They didnt it is basically a glorified suped up Yoshi's island but with better graphics and more gameplay. Imo Nsm is the biggest pile of shite to come out of Nintendo since sunshine.

I was very, very excited for this game. A little let down, but nothing major. It was over shadowed fairly bad for me, as I bought it the night I got my Wii (midnight launch, you know....). I remember being very frustrated at something, though I don't remember what. Then I sold my DS. I look forward to playing it again though. Yoshi's Island is one of my favorite SNES games and I wanted more of the same and thats exactly what this is. I'd say it's the best platformer on DS...

Finally beat this today. The entire world 5 is such a pain in the ass. Very fun game and worth the money, but I do not have the patience to try and get 100s on every level.

it's odd, I think the original game is boring as hell (blasphemy, I know).
But everytime I pass the DS game in a store I'm tempted.
I dunno.

I'd sooner pick up Squeak Squad than this I guess.

Yeah, Level 5 is a real pain, I didn't enjoy any of the stages.
It's a great game, but some of the stages are so tedious.

I got to stage five with something like 90 lives, and ended up beating the game with around 55.........The difficulty jump from four to five is absurd.

I played this for about 2.5 hours tonight and was having a lot of fun. The graphics are cutesy and really nice in my opinion. I have to agree NSMB was pretty lame. The power ups weren't all that special and the level designs in that game were really easy and boring. But Yoshi's Island DS is a lot more complicated and having to switch between Baby Mario and Baby Peach adds more to it and it is just a lot more fun to play, so far. I'm only up to the second world, but after having played this and Kirby Squeek Squad a few days ago, I think this is the better platformer at this point. Best one I've played yet on the DS so far. Super Princess Peach is growing on me, but I'm a little stuck at the moment. Do you need to do anything special (talk to someone, buy something?) to use her vibe that will make her run faster? I'm thinking it's the one in the lower right hand corner but I can't figure out how to use it, and I'm too lazy to check gamefaqs.
