I'm 5 hours into this game and loving it. I&m on the fifth mission and just got my ASS KICKED. I'm in the coliseum leveling up my weak pilots right now.

This game has great art, good music and has a certain 90's SNES feel to it that really grabs me.

So far I highly recommend it. I think I have to hurry up and get as much time on this game before FFTactics comes and takes over my portable gaming habit.

Anyone else into Front Mission? This is the first game of the series that I've bought and I'm really happy with it.

After I improve my Japanese I can't wait to play this game. How far are you into it now?

Got it a few weeks back, you definately do not need to know a bit of japanese to play it. All the menus through the whole of the game are in english only the story and dialogue are in japanese. Great game though well presented and works well with the touch screen, although i feel that they should have limited the amount of money you can make off the coleseum as it makes the game to easy imo.

I'm seven hours into it now and on the sixth mission.

I was having fun... but now I can't pass the mission... back to leveling up my characters painfully in the arena.

This game is wonderful, I just need to get over this hump and then my characters will be all set to go.

I really love the atmosphere and dramatic over the top square story. Like matt said, you definately don't need to know Japanese to play the game.

matt- I have a shit load of money, but I'm still getting wasted. What equipment should I buy?

um well there is usually like 3 bodies that are the latest unlocked and they are usually the best so go for them depending what you want your guys to be. So use the high hp and defense rating body for the close combat guys and the high mobility body for the long range ones, then the all rounder one for the all rounder guys. Look at the pilots stats and see where their strengths are, long or short range and equip them accordingly.

I found that the hornet arm cannon thing was pretty handy around that stage of the game with any of the pilots that were half decent because it can be used long range and up close also if u got lucky could knock off an arm in one shot. My collesseum whore had both arms hornet cannons, as you can knock out the opponent in 2 or 3 shots if you get lucky and score like 3 times what u bet. Which makes getting money pretty easy if u bet a grand a few times and manage to win. Once you get most of your team up to scratch the game gets a bit to easy though.

Cool! My current strategy was decking all the dudes out in tank treads and giving them all ergets then have them mob the enemy with them. Didn't work out well.

I'll try custom tailoring all the mechs to short and long range. Thanks for the advice!

lol, i made a point to not use those tank treads. I found a nice mix is good, get the tough guys mixing it up at the front and the long distance guys firing at them from the back and then just have a few that can do both, to easy. Also the flame throwers are really overpowered, dunno if you have got them yet.

the tank treads suck they lower theyer jumping up/down to like 1 step.

also i did this on the wonderswan version so it should still apply but if you want to level up a skill go to the coliseum and fight a week guy (one you get 0 EX from) and keep useing the skill.
the more you use a skill the quicker it will level up so even tho your not getting ex from the fight you will at some point get the skill up to level 2 or 3.
the skills level up from use not EX.
i should state unless you really want a skill up this gets tedious.

also the more damage you take the beater your Agility.

this was also in the wonderswan version hopefully its still there.
The Ziege Gun

In Mission 15,move to the top left-most corner of the map. You will find a weapon called the ''Ziege Gun'', which can either be sold for 15000 Huffmann Dollars,or equipped. It has 1x99 damage, and gives 700 exp. on a miss.
