I'm building an adapter to go from my 32X to the supergun so I can use its video encoder to get an s-video signal out of my Sega stuff.
The cable between the two will be no more than 1-2 feet. Right now, I'm looking at either carving up a USB cable or using CAT-5 (because both are readily available to me for cheap). The USB cable has an advantage in the fact that it's shielded. I only need 4 conductors + ground (R,G,B,Sync,Ground) and I can use its shield as the ground. The CAT-5 has an advantage in that I suspect it would be significantly easier to solder into the mini-din connector that plugs into the 32X.
For such a short distance, does it even really matter which cable I use?
