I've been trying to figure this out for the longest time, but its not coming to me, i was wondering if anyone here would know.

My street fighter alpha is acting strange. I would set the sound at a certain level (0 - 39, 39 being the max volume level), so i would set it at a certain level, say 11. Then as i keep playing it would all of a sudden shoot straight up to 39. Save to say i was a bit freaked out when i heard a super loud "hadoken".

Was wondering if it was my "A" board, as the sound controls are found on the "A" board or if its a setting issue.

I have a similar problem with my MK cabinet, its a dedicated cabinet and for some reason while playing, the volume raises and lowers itself whenever it sees fit. Also, if the game has only been on for a few minutes or so, sometimes it will reset itself mid-game. Leaving the game on for a while stops the reboots, but the sound still fluctuates. Maybe something is up with the PSU?

Yeah I can't figure it out. My only guess is there might be a short somewhere. When i go and take a look at the test screen to check the volume level, i can literally see the volume bar raising without me even touching the volume key on the "A" board.

A short in the "a" board or a faulty voulume button is my only guess as to what can be happening here.

Mine does the same thing sometimes, I believe it is a glitch, as it only happens with cps2 when you change boards.

After spending a huge amount of time testing each of the connections and checking to see where i might have a short, i finally figured out the problem with my cps2 boards.

I had recently bought a new cps2 kick harness from jammaboards.com. I would have never thought that my kick harness was the problem, but after searching for my short in all of my jamma connections and not finding one, i thought, "why the hell not, lets check this too, i'm all out of ideas." So i checked the wires in there and found a short. Pulling out my pinout for the kick harness, i realized that these 2 were for external volume control, an option that the cps2 boards have. Since i wasn't using them, i pulled them out of the connector and plugged my kick harness back into my cps2 board.

Problem solved =P Its working fine now and the sounds are good to go.

Hopefully if anyone is having this problem with the cps2 system, this might help, it might have taken me a while, but nothing feels better than a working board =P
