Was the MV-1FZ the last and most compatable MVS board put out? I want to build a cab with 5-6 single slots (its odd I know but it makes sence with the switching and other boards I want in there)...however space is a consideration as well as compatablity with games like SSVS. Is there a better one slot or should I try and hunt some of the MV-1FZ's down when I get the money?

all the mvs boards are fully compatible

Re-reading my original post I failed to mention that I will be updating bioses in some of them probably to the unibios. So is it still the same...all boards function the same with the new bios or are there differences in boards? Or is it better to just leave the original bios in?

Basicaly I want to make a cab with all the Samurai Shodown games (including the HNG64 and possably the atomiswave SS6 if I can afford it). I have heard that the unibios lets you unlock bosses and such in some of the SS games so I figure it it adds functionality I will put it in...if not I see no point. But I could be wrong on all counts. I want to use single slot boards because I want a single switching buttong not one for each MVS board and one too switch between multislot boards.

Why dont you just get a 6 slot to take care of the 6 SS games on MVS?

Single slots have problems with newer Playmore titles like ROTD and Matrimelee. This has been widely documented, and modifications are needed for the carts. (and it doesn't always work)

Track down a 2 slot. Best board period.

aye. onboard memory card slot, controller ports, support for the coin leds. all in a nice sigle board package with a sturdy case and a medium footprint.

In this case i'd grab a 4-6 slot mvs and a jamma splitter. This way you can connect both an atomiswave and mvs up to tha same cab and only need 1 switch to go between them. A 2 slot is best when consolized imo, the joystick ports make the job a breeze. You might need to rewire up the jamma connector that goes to the 4-6 slot mvs but that shouldn't be very hard to do at all, it'll just basically require you to reroute a couple wires at the most.(hack and splice)

Surprised no one mentioned the MV-1C. That's a good board, however Unibios installation requires a little work.

After some more planning I think the 6 slot would be the best bet...then I will have 4 buttons on the top of the cp...player 1, player 2, board sellect (between the 4 boards), and game select (for the 6 slot). That I can handle...having 2 slots would add 2 more game select buttons and clutter up the cp as well as take up more space in the cab.

So what do good fully functional 6 slots go for these days? Need to know how much to save up :)

Watch out. 6-slots are power hungry and most multi-JAMMA adapters require you to power all your boards at the same time. 6 slots stress some supplies, and putting an AW board on there with it is probably not something you'll find any documented success on, but may work fine.

The Unibios is worth it for the ability to pause as well as the soft reboot feature, where if you want to switch games and you're still in the middle of something, you can simply hit a couple buttons at the same time and move on.

There is a dual JAMMA adapter on the market that switches between 2 JAMMA boards when you hit P1 and P2 together, so if you're looking to have less buttons, that would be one way to reduce your hole-drilling.

What are the power requirments for the 6 slot and atomiswave boards? I havnt been able to dig much up on actual stats.
