Hey, does anybody here with a capcom impress can fill me in on a few questions.

I have an old impress stuck at my previous job and I HAVE to get it out on monday but the only thing I have to move it is a toyota echo/yaris hatchback. Its not big enough for the whole thing but should be big enough if I break it into two parts. I know this can be done since I did it years ago when I cleaned the cabinet out after buying it.

My main question is tho (since I dont remember), Is it posible to seperate the top and bottom half without having to pull everything out like the monitor and such?

I do have the special bit needed because of it's custom screw heads.

please help!!!

well the hood comes right off and the speakers with it, basically right down to the top of the monitor. Beyond that if you have the torex security bit you can remove the 3 screws on both sides of the cabinet and get the whole front CP off (I believe). That should make it both slender and short enough to be of some help. Good luck man.

Thanks for that info.

Question still tho is what about what bolts the top to the bottom. is there any critical parts holding them down? Or is it just the outer case screws and posibly a few in the monitor chassy?

--edit--

I forgot to mention that yeah I understand how to get the monitor part off (i know there are a few screws in the back in a holding part for moving that bolts the top half of the front cover down).

Thats somewhat difficult for me to arange as well I think I need to break it up some anyways to fit my apartment door.

The cabinet could somewhat fit in an echo but a few parts still out a little too much to make it in. so I just got to break it into two which I know can be done but can't fully say since I can't go to the cab and check it.

yeah you definitely can split it in half, Ive just never done it so I couldnt tell you how to go about that. Good news is that the lower and top halfs are seperated with all the connections going into wiring blocks so you should be fine.

Have fun pulling the body screws out. If the impress is built like astro cities (which i'm assuming it is judging by pics), those screws are in there super-tight and will most likely strip  One time i tried to take appart one of my astros completely, but said screw it after I stripped two of the screws and broke a screwdriver.

I got the custom bit for it. As well I disassembled the unit in the past so they are not in there that tight anymore (atleast to the level I would need to disassemble it). :)

Tho I will admit I stripped one in the past but I placed it in a part I would not need to disassemble again.

God i'm totaly beat.

You can split the unit in two but it took so damn log since the screws and bolts on the thing were rusted shut (there were one or two supper tricky ones to take out).

Anyways the unit easly breaks into two at two key points. There are for screws on two metal plates (two each), Take thoes two off, then in the back (about middle) where the top and bottom join, you will find two screws each on both ends. Take thoes two out and the top will seperate (make sure to unplug all the wires going to the upper half in the jamma compartment (its up on the plastic ceiling). More recomendations are to take the front pannel off since that gives you access to four metal monitor bars which make it easier to move the heavy upper half.

:P

so many trips and 5 hours later. I finaly have a cabinet in my apartment. :tickled: Monitor still looks in great shape but I wont get the chance to assemble it all and test it out again till this weekend. :tickled:
