oh man MOTW definatly! i mean look at it, OAF3 was awsome since it was meant to go head to head w/ the 3D games of the era but i mean MOTW is
a. more megs which means more animation, etc and
b. an all around newer game.

In clothes, hairs and fireballs special effects; GMOTW gains the upper hand...

But if we take on consideration the breathing; character stances; the reality of the moves, the fact that shadows cover the characters while walking under a three; and MANY other I should AND will prodly cast for AoF3, Ryuuko no Ken Gaiden.

Karman Cole is god.

MotW got a lot more frames of animation for each character.

Also the characters are much more "alive"

Look at Dong Hwan extra winning taunt (f+start while KO)! Fucking cool!

For those, who did not know, when you win immediatly press either f+start or b+start for an extra taunt before the winpose.
Or that extra animation of Rock and Kain after doing a hard punch or kick or a special.

Also only Ryo and Robert in AoF 3 are excellent fighters with lots of animations. The rest lacks in moves, and therefore animations, especially hard moves, which could be compared to a Haoushoukouken.

The good and funny thing is they are "breathing" while being downed. The endboss Wyler is even bad animated. Look at him while is standing up. He is not even stand up, instead he is levitating up!

But in MotW every fighter has a good sortiment of excellent animated specials!

I say MotW even beats Street Fighter 3rd Strike arcade in nimation.

MotW rules when it comes to animation in any case!

AOF3... which leads me ask this: AOF3 came out way back when and had some of the best animations ever, but then SNK took some steps back and never came close to matching them until MOTW. Why? Lazy? Would games with more characters (KOF) be too big with those animations? It just seems that once you reach that level of animation, why wouldn't you maintain it?

The deal with AOF3 is that they used motion capture (The same technique they use to do 3D animation) i.e.: Some dude in a black suit with a bunch of little sensors on it doing punches and kicks in front of a special camera.

AOF3s animation wasn't concieved on paper the way MOTW was, and that is why the characters move with such wierd, realistic fluidity.

And, as Fran said, they are HUGE.

Overall, AOF3 animates more smoothly than MOTW and the characters are crisper and more 'real' looking by far.

However, the AOF3 characters, despite being motion captured, are kind of 'Stiff', whereas MOTW characters are a bit more 'dynamic'.

Overall, I think AOF3 is a bit slicker than MOTW- and it has better BGs.

AOF3 was an experiment, kind of like 'cartoons-meet-reality' whereas MOTW is ALL cartoon.

For some reason, AOF3 wasn't that successful. Just watch this bbs, AOF3 mostly gets honourable mentions for its animations, but most ppl don't seem to like the game play. I don't really know why, AOF3 is a cool game, with smashing visuals.

Perhaps the fluidity of the animations in AOF3 is the reason for both, love and hate. Unlike other fighters, characters in AOF3 do complete movements, which takes longer/creates a bigger lag than in other fighters (just watch Ryo's Koh Ken fireball animation).

If you don't have good timing, the enemy will tear you apart very quickly.

This is a comment of someone, who has the vision of a MOLE!

And maybe AoF characters are bigger, but that has no effect on how well they are animated. That´s a Question of how much frames of animation wre drawn and put into the cart.

And believe me: MotW characters have minimum triple as much frames completly than any AoF3 character.

Or why do think has AoF only 298 megs with 10 characters and Garou with only 14 characters imense 688 megs.

Because of Music?

Vete al carajo, Fran! You´re really dumber than shit could be!

They're both great, and as Neobuyer said, very different. MotW is much more sylized. "Streaking" was used to accent movement, along with a higher frame rate. BUT, the movements in MotW look really fake at times. The characters have no weight to them. They run around and fly through the air effortlessly, delivering giant flaming or lightning soaked blows to each other, only to be accented by an explosion of green popcorn bursting from the target. I guess everyone in Second South has packing-peanuts instead of blood AOF3 on the otherhand is much more 1D to look at, the characters have a certain "Flatness" to them, which I think may be due in part to their shading. It makes some tastefull use of blood (Non US AES only ) Most of the moves in AOF3, like MotW, could stand to be slower. That's right all you combo freaks. I like pulling off 20 hit combos in 3 seconds too, but nobody moves that fast, and in turn, it looks really fake. Take Dong Hwan F,QCF & A or C move, it has like twenty-billion frames of animation, trouble is, it shows them so fast that it looks unnatural. Both games have GREAT animation. Which one is "Better"? Depends on what you favor. Me? AOF3, of course

People says that Motw have several victory pose and several taunts while AoF 3 has only 2 victory poses and 1 taunt per character??

Incorrect.

AoF has 3 wictory poses by character, and many of them have special taunts against other characters (Kasumi vs Kyokugen Ryuu; and that taunt drains 90% of the spirirt bar)

Motw has more movements?? depends; In would say no; because AoF character have A LOT of sprites for being attack; just try thronwing or making Kasumi or Rody's counter attack; the enemy is perfectly located on the cluthches of the enemy.

also; while GMOW has more special moves; AoF 3 has WAY more directional moves; counter attacks and recovery moves; they are hard to trigger tough....

I love AoF 3; it is one of my "life time favourites"; I believe that the game can be played several ways and the combos and juggles are spectacular; sights to be seen...

You have not understood.

That features like special opening provocations AoF3 has are also in MotW.

But furthermore you have extra winning taunts, which the character performs before the real win pose - special or general - is coming! Just push f or b+start right at the KO and you´ll see!

And for you, cock-sucker Fran:

I am not 16

It seems I know a lot more about those games you know

It also seems you can not watch closely what those sprites a doing and how they do it

DON´T SPEAK, IF YOU DON`T HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE!!!

And MOST IMPORTANT

FUCK YOURSELF!!!!

sf3 third strike's animation blows me away, just look how Q walks for example..

i prefer kof98 now however, as for MOTW vs AOf3, I would say both have their moments

Maybe some should read and check out the data on both cartridges and count every single animation frame of every fucking sprite!

Then we´ll see, who is better animated!

That would be the best way to solve this!

But I am still very confident, that I am right!
