I acquired a hacked firmware 3.02 PSP in trade last week, and I've been having a blast with Metal Gear Portable Ops. I'd like to check out what else the system has to offer. Any recommendations? I'd rather not load it up with emulators and PSX games, I have cabinets and a PSX for that stuff. I'm interested really only in PSP titles.

Thanks for any input!

There are lots more...those were the ones off the top of my head.

Don't let the haters cloud your judgement. The PSP has more than enough decent games to keep you playing for a long time.

Loco Roco - maybe it's an acquired taste - but that's got to be the most amazing little game I've seen in years. by cousin brought it over with him when he came over from the UK last year. damn it.

I have to get that one.
that and the Makaimura game.

I don't care for Me & My Katamari, but it's still a great game.
It's the controls that feel off.

I will plug the collections though:
Capcom Remix and Reloaded
Sega Genesis Collection
EA Collection is good if you have fond memories of EA titles.

I'll back Mega Man: Powered up.

Heck, Capcom titles make up 75% or more of my PSP games.

Gah! Can't give up on my Pokemon Critters so soon in the game though....

/me goes back to DSLite and Pokemon Diamond.

It took awhile for me to get used to the controls, but after all that is said and done, I had lots of fun with it.

Great music, too.

DR - I'd have to agree with you on Loco Roco. Didn't care much for it at first, but it definitely grew on me.

Get Initial D Street Stage, easily my fave racer ever.

Exit is awesome too, hella fun and stylish.

Very true, I played the Loco Roco demos and can't help but smile. Its on my to get list.

UGnG is simply amazing, I'm not much into platformers but this one completely floored me, oozes with quality (Konami better be taking notes for Rondo of Blood).

Virtua Tennis 3
Sakura Taisen 1 & 2 (if you're a fan of the series)
Lumines
Initial D: Street Stage (my fav game on the system)
Hot Shots: Open Tee (launch game, but still great)

How playable are the Sakura Taisen games for the Japanese-deficient?

Very. The FAQS on Gamefaqs for the Saturn versions follow perfectly. The PSP is actually my favorite way to play the SakuTai games now because you can just have a laptop around while you play, so reading along is pretty easy.

Even if you don't care about understanding the story though, the battle sequences are simple and intuitive.

If you've never played the SakuTai games though, I don't know if I can recommend them. There is a lot of plot to read along with, and if that's not your thing, you probably won't like them.

The replay is high though if you do since there are 6 endings for each game.

It's one of my favorite game series ever, so I knew going in I would like the PSP versions. Give them a shot if you think you might like them, especially since they are cheap. I got the game (has the first two games in the series on one UMD), with some extras, for $29.99 from PlayAsia. Definitly a good deal.

Have you played them before? I'm assuming yes since you play such a broad variety of games. If you have, pick the game up for sure.

I've been meaning to try it for quite sometime now, seeing as the only ST game I've ever attempted to play was the Hanagumi Taisen Columns.
