Right now i'm really contemplating selling my current arcade setup/hardware & software, and using that money to buy an AstroCity or an Impress.

Here's what i'll be selling away:

* D-lite component Supergun w/modded controller

* MV-1F- U.S. Bios
* Samurai Showdown 2
* King of Fighters 96
* King of Fighters 97
* King of Fighters 99
* Breakers
* Breakers Revenge
* Top Players Golf
* Windjammers
* Garou: Mark of the Wolves (actually JUST sold this)
* Kizuna Encounter: Super Tag Battle
* World Heroes 2 Jet

* Atomiswave motherboard
* Partial KOF: Neo Wave Kit
* FULL GG: ISUKA Kit... still waiting on this to arive.

This is not a selling thread, i'm just wondering if you guys think it's worth it to basically trade most of that stuff in, and get a candy. If you would like to know... i'm a little tired of the setup I currently have. I really only play Neowave, and I've always wanted a candy. I've already calculated it too, and I should have plenty of money if everything goes according to plan. What do you think?

that's a tough one because a nicely made supergun is really nice to have regardless of whether or not you have a cab (IMO) - but there's nothing quite like having your own arcade setup at home - so yeah, go for it if you can a decent deal.

I'm going to do it! :D lol

^ Matsu did have some Impress's in his last shipment, but I guess he's already sold out. :( . They must sell like hotcakes.

I've not set on either an AstroCity, or Impress either. I calculated that if everything goes to plan I can get a total of $1170 for all of that minus the shipping I have to do. It costs about $250 to ship a candy from Matsu to where I live, so I might go for something bigger and better like a Cyberlead or something. I'll just have to research some more.

In the mean time I gots to go find a buttload of boxes and packing supplies, beacuse next week all thats going up for sale.

Cab > Supergun any day of the week. If you've got space that is. Setting up a super gun to a TV is a major pain in the ass. I actually gutted my MAS super nova/ joysticks to wire a cab. Glad I did.

Do it man, I went from AES to getting a cab and I was very happy that I did. The feel of a candy cab with your favorite Neo games on a 29" CRT in RGB is just awesome.

If you sell all the games what are you going to play in your new cab?

Just keep what you have and buy an RGB monitor. With D's supergun you can literally play all th PCBs out there.

Dude don't even think twice. Sell the gear you have. Arcade boards and cartridges are super easy to replace over time.

BTW- If you're going thru matsu, and this is your first candy, I highly recommend an Egret 2. I know he has a ton of them, so getting a minty one should be easy. Also, if you enjoy vertical shmups, this is the cab for you. Its basicly 2-in-1 due to the rotating mech.

billd420 is right on this one. Get yourself an Egret II. I personally like to have Astro City cabs myself since the parts are not to hard to find. Whatever you get, make sure you can rotate the monitor!

awesome guys, thanks for the motivation. Starting next week i'm going to start selling off my stuff. :D

So many awesome cabs out there. This will be my first cab that I own. I've always really liked the look of the Egret II, if I can raise enough money I can almost guarntee thats what i'll be getting. I can't remember if they're Hi-res or not, that would sure be nice. Plus having a rotatable monitor would be like a dream come true.

How about a Windy City? I really would NOT mind having one of those. To me they look just a sexay as an Egret II, plus I think they are hi-res and have rotatable monitors as welll...

OR

having an Impress with the special control panel that allows you to plug in a DC controller would be most aweseome as well.

gah! what to do, what to do.

You know, I really could have gone with astros. Matsu gave me a ridiculous deal on 2 egrets though, so I couldn't pass them up. With 2, the rotating mech. becomes almost pointless as one will always be vertical anyways.

Still, the egret II is damn sexy. If you only have room for one cab and need a rotating monitor it's probably the best option.

Egret 2's are standard and medium rez only. You can upgrade the chassis to do high rez for about $200, however you sacrifice the amazing low rez quality that the Nanao monitor offers. They have identical monitors as the astro cities IIRC (Nanao MS9-29A/SU).

Konami windy cities are very nice, but a total bitch to find stateside. The reason I recommended an Egret 2 or a Sega Astro is they are readily available. If you can find a windy, definitely pick it up, but not to discourage you or anything, you probably won't find one. Also, they have low/medium rez monitors... nanao's IIRC. The windys do rotate, however they are manual rotatable, not auto.

About the impress, if you can find one, get it. They're sweet cabs, very hard to locate. The only thing is finding a dreamcast control panel may be quite the task. I know they're super rare, pretty much available on yahoo JP, and crazy expensive.

So anyways, I'd either get one egret 2, or two sega astros. You can't go wrong with either choice. Keep in mind that if you get the astro cities, they are easy to rotate, but should probably be 'tated with 2 people. I can rotate mine by myself cuz I'm beast, but I wouldn't recommend it to the novice user.

Best of luck w/ the cabs, feel free to hit me up if you have questions.

Good luck. Hope you get the cab you're looking for. Living on the west coast should cut shipping costs a good bit.

I'm like 6'2" and have no problem with the astros. My roommate is maybe an inch or two taller than me, and he makes out just fine.

Just get some small stools from ikea for 5 bucks, problem solved. Normal chairs will not give you the space you need, however.
