hey guys I'm a proud new owner of http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=120107083397&rd=1&rd=1

I'm pretty excited, and it's been a few years since i've been into the forums, but i've been catching up on things like the unibios (which was being talked about but not yet released), anyways, here are my questions that i couldn't find answers to through searching.

1. What kind of programmer and chips do i need to program a unibios?

2. Is there a guide or PDF somewhere with a how to program the unibios?

3. As far as i remember, Happ controls was the place to order a whole new control set. Is this still the best?

4. Can anyone recommend some cool add-ons for my 4 slot? like new decals, better speakers, ect...

5. As far as i remember SNK wasn't sold to playmore, but i know things change, and maybe just a quick few if any good playmore titles like king of fighters 2003, or metal slug 5. IIRC, i remember reading that metal slug series was a dissapointment with reused sprites from past titles.

Anyways, just wanna throw a pre-thanks for the help and it's good to be back, glad to see that the NEO GEO scene hasn't lost its momentum.

Not to bad...

Just buy a unibios... Unless you want to get into programming chips for other projects, it's easier.

upgrades are like $5.

Agreed. You can get the latest chip for around $30 straight from razoola.

yea that's the route i'm prob going to take, but i mean i enjoy projects, and having the ability to reprogram my own bios chip would be fun.

i was just wondering if anyone has programmed their own using his 2.2 release, i mean i just would like to see how hard it is to do it myself.

thanks for the replys

thanks, i just picked up the machine today, and it's not as described...

3 buttons are broken, tons of scratches and missing the "neo geo" lamp above the game descriptions. i'm kinda disappointed it looks like i'll be throwing another 300 into this machine to make it into a solid neo geo......

i'll post some pictures of the machine and areas that need attention tomorrow.

i'm beginning to think this machine might be better suited as a mame cab...

How dare you. You should be shot just for saying that.

oh and i don't see anything wrong with turning a beatup neo, that has seen it's day a long time ago, into a respectable mame cab...

just because restoring it properly is beyond your abilities doesn't mean it's done. sell it to someone who knows what they are doing.

"respectable mame cab" Is there such a thing?

beyond my abilities, how could you come to such conclusions, i thought you were smarter than that....

i can feel the anger here, if you've got something you want to say, just say it straight out, otherwise go rack up your post count in another thread. There are many respectable mame cabs out there, cabs that enthusiasts put tons of time and effort into, i can't believe how naive a comment that was...

i'm about to purchase a unibios tomorrow evening, cant wait for this.....

And another big red bites the dust. I rather put it out of its misery with a sledge hammer than mame it.

By the way mame is a bad word around here as people here collect the real thing.
