Hi,

I've been wanting to do a consolisation for oooo.... dayz now. I've recently won a MV-1FZ board off ebay. I was wondering how to get the +5v and +12v from one PSU without it being the size of the earth.

I came across this :

Large pic here:

By the looks of it, If I was to encase the MVS board this could be mounted out of sight. I've also read that the +12v won't realy be needed if the stereo mod is done.

Do you think it will be usefull?

i consolised a MV1-FZ not so long ago, see pics below

anyway i did the stereo mod and still used a dual voltage power supply, i know you can get away with just 5v on the MV1-A and MV1-C, not seen it on the MV1-FZ, could be wrong though

i've got a couple of brand new desktop power supplies left over that look similar to those in the links you sent, drop me a pm if your interested

You don't need the 3.3v output... some switching power supplies must have a minimum load or they oscillate and self destruct.

You must refer to the data sheet for the power supply to determine what the minimum loads are and place the appropriate resistor across the 3.3v output terminals.

I would simply not get a power supply that has the 3.3v outputs.
