Not sure if this makes any sense, but I got a NOS killer instinct hard drive in the mail today. The boot rom and hard drive have hand labeled stickers, but the box for it (which was NOS) has killer instinct (c) midway printed on it, so I know its legit. I installed the boot rom, and it will only play the intro video before reseting, however I was able to access the test menu. I did a hard drive check and according to the test menu, the hard drive has version 1.0 killer instinct software installed in it. The other very odd thing is right in the begining, it says "available in 1996 exclusively on the ULTRA 64 HOME SYSTEM". I've never seen a real KI in action until now... do they all say this in the intro video??

Crazyness... now if only i could get it to play right!

Word. So any ideas about it resetting after the intro video finishes, or after the VS screen? I tried both the bootrom that was supplied w/ the HDD and the bootrom that was installed on the board when i got it (1.5d IIRC), and I get the same exact result.

For KI, the HD is always version 1.0, but the game boot ROM is what contains the program/game code. The HD only stores graphics and video.

MAWS shows the revision for the program ROM, as that's what is changed between versions, not the HD.
