Its a cakewalk bro. Inside mine i used wire harness's i could easily disconnect when taking the lid off to replace the unibios for example. I also put the unibios in a ZIF socket, because i am lazy. Just don't mess up drilling the holes in the lid, cuz its not easy to replace them. As with anything else mark off where you want to drill with masking tape and take your time. Let me know if you need help finding parts as i just built one not too long ago.(in my signature) Anyhow good luck :)

1. Use 5v only.... Don't bother with the 12....
2. Take the Volume off the headphone connector..
3. Don't solder to the Jamma edge.... Use a multimeter to trace back.
4. Replace the Battery while you are at it.
5. Don't paint when it's too cold or humid.....

When drilling holes, use a small bit to make your pilot holes as the smaller bit will be easier to get aligned and will get through the metal quicker. Larger bits like to move around on that metal.

Once you have the pilot holes done, use a step-bit to gradually get to the size you need.

Also,

Take the Washer for the Button/jack and put it on the step bit.......

This prevents overdrilling...

Almost done, cant believe I forgot to put a power switch.

Does the unibios work the same way with the 2 slot where I dont need coin buttons, just press select to add coins? On my 1 slots I never had to put coin buttons.

Anyone have a template they would like to share that shows the mounting post locations on the PCB?

Use a multimeter and check for continuity.

Well actually it does but you can only use 1 slot if you want it to work that way. If you use both slots then the select button is used to switch slots. Which is ok if you are in free play but otherwise theres no way to add credits without "coin in" buttons. Now what i plan on doing is rerouting the coin in button to the controller port as theres a couple unused terminals. I figured what i would do is wire it up so the 1p coin in a routed to terminal 2 of the joystick port on the console then just open up my mas joysticks and manually wire it up that way. This way it basically allows for me to add an extra button to my joystick to use for adding coins while keeping my select and start buttons functioning the way they were intended. It might be abit hard to visualize but its just basically moving the coin in button to the joystick instead of being on the CMVS itself.

Hmmm. Maybe I will wire the coinbuttons to the start buttons that when when pressing select it wont interfere with the game select when putting coins in.

Does anyone think thats a bad idea?

James dont you have to push start on a multi-slot board to begin the game.....I'm pretty sure that youre idea wont work. Just mount a small button on the metal housing next to a test button.

Yes but what I mean is the start button will activate both the coin in and start as well. I'm just trying to figure out a way to put coins in without having to use coin buttons.

I think this could work, I mean what are the drawbacks of inserting a credit when you start a game?

James the drawback, would be that in order to start the game you wanted, youd have to wait for that screen to come up. If you were to do it this way, you would have to let the game that you didnt want to play run through the intro before you could insert a credit, and start the other game. Does that make sense?? Let me clarify. The only way the select button works is if there is A- a credit in to the machine B-its set to freeplay

Just do like i am going to and wire up another button to an empty controller port terminal. I'm going to use terminal #2 on the joystick port, its vacant and can be used just for this if you know what you are doing.

dood if he does that he'll have to mod every controller he ever uses on the damn thing. And I have a felling the 2 slot CMVS is for someone else.

I was assuming it was for him(guess i was wrong?) and for most people it would mean modding 2 controllers at the most. For me personally its an ideal solution. But hey, thats me.

I think the best thing to do is set it to "freeplay" and set the select to "always" then.

95% of the time i just use one slot. Even when i did use 2 slots, most of the time i'd only play one or the other.

That's what I do. In fact, I can only ever remember using select when I had controllers plugged into the on-board ports.

Also, another potential problem with using the same button for start / select (or start / coin) would be that it could cause problems with a Unibios (i.e., popping up the in-game menu when you don't want it). I know you said you were going to use freeplay but I just thought I'd mention that.

Isnt it start+select for the in game menu not just start?

I'll just give it a try, I can always remove it by just desoldering 1 connection if it doesnt work.
