NGPC randomly shutting off

Today I was in the middle of playing my ngpc when all of a sudden it shut off. I assumed the batteries were dead even though the power LED was very bright. I replaced them and when I turned my system back on it was asking me to configure the system settings. Right as I was getting into Samsho 2 (about 2 minutes into the game) the system shut off again.

At this point I remembered I had never changed the watch battery. Well I ran down to the grocery store and bought a pack of those. After replacing it the system shut down again after about a minute or 2 of gameplay.

Is my NGPC shot or is there something that I am missing?

What kind of AA batteries are you using? Rechargables?

No just plan Duracel, but I also tried the Energizers out of my Wiimote. Same results.

Thats kinda weird, try checking if anything is loose or maybe some corrosion.

first time it happened i tought as well that it was from the batteries, but after turning the power on again everything was ok.without even changing batteries.

stretch the springs out a bit on the AA battery terminals.

You don't wan't to use rechargeable batteries in the NGPC! Also my owner's manual says to install lithium battery and then the AA batteries.

manual recommended not to

Ya and that was back in 2000. I use rechargables and have no problems since I recharge them when I sleep I dont have to worry about them dying on me.

It's not worth the money / effort to use rechargeables, IMO. I've had an NGPC for at least 3-4 years and it's only on its second set of batteries. Alkalines last forever in that thing and don't have the auto-discharge problem that most rechargeables have.

I also need to do the same. I noticed when you move my NGPC too much, it shuts off. Seems like the battery compartment doesn't keep the batteries in place tight enough. I'm guessing som thin foam tape between the batteries and battery cover. And or strecthing the battery springs.

Very true, you can't beat alkalines. I just hate having to buy batteries, thats the only reason why I use rechargables not to mention that I have around 7 NGPCs, 4 of which have a front light. Plus too it's probably because I got the batteries and charger for Christmas one year so I had to use it. ;)
