Is wonderswan color much different than Swancrystal? If not I will probably buy the sweet FF special edition

I think crystal has a better screen, judging from the reviews of those who have experienced both.

I'd say,go for crystal since owning Judgement Silversword is a must.

ive never played a swancrystal but i have played the WSC and the screen is horrible on that thing so if you want to play games then you should get the crystal since the screen is better (ive heard), if you just want to collect then get whatever you want

I managed to ge hold of a backlit Swancrystal. When I picked up Silversword and the screen is good, but it has made me very fussy, I keep playing with the contrast.

I almost think that if you only play this in good conditions (decent overhead light the normal swan colour is fine. For any on the move use a BL Crystal is pretty much the only option.

Christ I want a Wonderborg very badly now! after seeing these threads about the swan and the great feature in Retro Gamer.

there was a backlit wonderswan crystal? Or is it a custom modification? Also i thought that there wasn't a contrast control on the swan crystal only on the colour? I havn't got my crystal yet so i have no idea.

also reading that article says that there is no back lighting or contrast control on the wonderswan crystal.

QUOTE: the SwanCrystal does not possess the contrast adjustment dial found on the other models]

Is there a way you can modify them with a back light and contrast control? Or was there a model released that had these ?

Sorry, yeh it was a modded one from that place and the adjustment dial was for the level of frontlight.

But ... if i crank up the light too much it powers down the console :(

Aside from that it's fine :)

Got my swancrystal today, just been over my mates place who has the color swan, and we compared the screens on judgement silversword and onepiece grand battle as well as b&W ghosts and goblins. Both JS and onepiece are swan crystal games and look alot better on the swan crystal, especially JS, which i found it quite hard to keep track of all the bullets on the swan color, also there seemed to be a bit of ghosting. Onepiece looked better on the crystal but not to much difference when played on the color. And G&G was pretty much equal. My only complaint about the screen is sometimes i found it hard to get enough light on it or the right angle, and this is basically straight under a 60W globe, but it didn't seem bright enough. I'm going to look into that backlight mod a bit more extensively. But yeh id say given the choice id take the crystal, even if it costs a little bit more, mainly for JS that game is awesome, and way better on teh crystal system that on the color.

Is it an easy install?

How much?

I'm not too keen on sending stuff off to other people...too many bad experiences.

I have a question, what does that switch on the underside of the swan crystal do under the x3 button? I've been flicking it like a madman and it seems to do nothing.

Also what games apart from JS are people playing at the moment? I'm interested to know what ones are good and playable to us non-Japanese speakers.

look at the text on top of it (on the back of the system). it's the lock for the battery door.
