All you have to do is either:

A- Move in circular patterns (pick either left or right side) and keep firing while moving in oval like patterns weaving in and out of the bullets. Don't use your bombs unless you know your overwhelmed and about to get hit by a barrage of bullets and try to get better at weaving and finding patterns in the bullet fire.

B- If this is an mvs then just keep dying and using your bombs then putting more credits in...simple.

If you think that boss is hard try beating Blazing Star on one or two credits- the boss is a seirous b i t c h.

First, let's remember that although AeroFighters and Strikers 1945 look suspiciously similar, their gameplay is quite different. For one, AF's enemy bullets are few, but they fly at you quickly. Unlike in Strikers (especially Plus), where there are a ton of slow-moving and maybe a few fast bullets littering the screen. Also, bosses in Strikers attack in sequence. Many AF bosses do not, they just attack whenever they feel like it.

Now, for AF2's bosses. The monkey's attack patterns are random, so I'll just tell you what those attacks are.

First, the twin cannons. Sometimes he'll fire them, alternating between the left and right one. Try not to be under the cannons, because the bullets fly down fast and might catch you off guard.

Second, the monkey unleashing 6 smaller monkey minions. Two of them will fly at you (think of them as bigass destroyable bullets), two more will float in place and fire destroyable bullets, and the other two (the most dangerous; destroy those first if you can) will fly around and fire bullets at you. During all of this time, the main monkey will be doing nothing. If you can, destroy all the minions so you can blast the main monkey while he's still idling.

And third, the energy release. Get ready when you see the monkey charging up a ball of energy in his hands. Sometimes, he'll release it, sending out a fast circular scattershot of bullets. Sometimes, he'll instead taunt with his cymbals. If he taunts, blast him.

I think I've covered all of the monkey's attacks. Oh, one more thing. Don't hesitate to use a bomb. Better to die without any bombs left than to die without having used any. Also, be sure to bomb in advance if you're using a plane where the bomb attack won't immediately erase bullets (like the F-14's carpet bombing; it covers full-screen, but it won't erase bullets immediately).

I'll explain the next boss's attacks later.

Okay, let's continue.

After the monkey and a few more pesky drones, you'll finally face the final boss. There's actually two of them, but you'll fight only one. Which one you fight is determined at random.

Anyways, one of them is a weird silly ghost-like entity. I can't help with that since he doesn't appear too often.

But I can help with the other boss, which is a big black eyeball thingy. Unlike the monkey, this one follows a pattern. To begin, it'll appear and float around, occasionally firing a few bullets at you.

Soon though, guns will extend off of him, covering all of his sides. Those guns fire big bullets in set intervals. Still, try not to be under a gun. And be careful because the eyeball is still firing those few bullets at you.

After a while, the guns will retract and two wing-like components will appear on the eyeball's sides. The wings are destroyable, but they're very durable. Regardless, the wings will fire a lot of small fast bullets at you. This one is very hard since the onslaught is almost continuous, with only a few breaks. Try not to get cornered and use a bomb if necessary. And remember, the eyeball itself is still firing.

Soon, the wings will vanish. They'll be replaced with two halves of a space battleship. They're also destroyable (and they give out power-ups too) but, like the wings, they're very durable. The battleship halves will fire very fast bullets in a particular pattern. It's very hard the first few times, but once you find the gaps in the pattern, it's not so hard. But remember, the eyeball is still firing.

After that, the battleship halves will vanish. At this point, it'll perform one of three attacks at random while wandering around and still shooting those few bullets. One of those attacks involves him sticking out an arm; weird, yes, but ramming it will kill you :) . Another attack is a green beam straight downwards. Hard to dodge especially if he's moving sideways while firing. And the third attack has him glowing a green aura and firing bullets (small, big, and very big) in a spiral (no, it's not a very dense spiral like in shooters nowadays but the bullets fly fast). I'm assuming he'll continue this final fiasco until he self-destructs over too much time passing (but I think you'll be dead before that happens :) ).

Well, there you have it. Now go out there and kick some ass. And after that, treat yourself to a goofy ending :)

I got it on CD, and the best way is to use 2 pads or sticks and press start on 2p, you don't have to control him do as much damage as you can before he dies, then let 2p die, and magic you done it, also you get different endings for any combination of 2 players.

That's called cheating. If you have to resort to that, you are not a skilled shmup player :p

Although I do hate that bit. Whoever decided that the player should restart the last level when you continue there should be horribly tortured

EXCUSE ME, I am trying to help shogun complete the game. I did'nt do it that way, I whacked it on hard, and don't talk to me like I am a crap player, I have been playing and collecting systems for nearly 17 years and I am touching 22, so don't talk to me like you know my skills, as too me he just wants to see A ending, so if he wants one that bad my way is faster. Icame to this site to learn and observe and help andgive sugestions if I can ,not to be slagged off by somebody who DOES NOT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ME

Whoa whoa whoa, calm down there. No need to get upset over some words. Besides, can't you tell by the smiley that I said that statement in jest?

Let's not get too touchy here...

Well, almost. In AF3, 2-player selections are limited (e.g., if your friend picks Hien, you're forced to be Mao Mao) to cut down on 2-player endings. I can understand that; so many possible ending combinations among 10 characters must've been seen as too much work. Either that, or there was not enough room for such.

Dammit, I miss AF... *goes and plays AF2*

Thanks for all the help on this guys.I've beaten AF2 several times now,and AF3 twice.Funny the first two times I beat AF2 it was the ghost I beat.Haven't seen him since.Maybe I sent him packing. :D Probably not...
I like the endings, they are quite silly, but not really worth the effort to get them.Oh well, the gameplay is more important than endings anyway.
By the way, that is a cool sig BBH..
But I think I liked the one with the reference to Gigawing (I believe) better.Something about using your reflector button, and she said wrong game Cindy.Something like that. That was funny...

Yeah,that one was funny!!!
The other one is an ending right?
But I don't think she says that in the game..(yes?)
O well, and yes you are a little obsessed with AF.
But its better than some games out there.
I prefer Raiden Project for PSX myself.AF would win if the levels were longer.I can play for several minutes per level on that game. With AF I'm lucky to get in 2 min before the boss.
And with no.3,it's more like 30 seconds.Which REALLY pisses me off. <img src="graemlins/blowtop.gif" border="0" alt="[Blow Top]" />

Yes, the other one is from an ending. And no, that's not what she really says. All I did was take a bunch of sprites and slap them together in an interesting way :)

And I do agree that AF's levels are a bit short (and AF3's are waaaaay too short), but they're sweet. Look at Psikyo's shooters (Gunbird, Strikers 1945, etc.); they have short levels too but they're still fun to play. Same with AF for me.

Besides, I don't like AF because of the gameplay; I can have more fun playing GigaWing. I like it because it has characters (unlike Strikers' automated planes) and they talk funny :D

there are at least 3 bosses in SW2!

on a japanese home-machine, i've seen it only once:

a big blue whale (as seen in SW? i can't remember really), wich wasn't shooting at all. while i blasted away on this thing, he began to weep (!!!) in big streams and finally exploded.

that i saw after roughly 5 years of playing SW2...

as i said, i managed to see this boss only once. maybe it is because i used to play this game on european mvs and only recently changed the BIOS to japanese home. and a friend of mine said that there may be more hidden bosses.

In all my time of playing AF2, I have never seen that fish thingy. And you say it does nothing but swim there and cry?

Boy, just when you thought Video System couldn't be any crazier...

exact... MAMBU appears from right, remains on the screen some second
ones, if you hit it cries, it never does not attack, and after little
of time it exits from the screen on the left
