Easiest way is Utopia boot disc, but the mod for a mod chip is cake. Trigger Heart and Karous are available at play-asia, but the LE for Trigger Heart is sold out I believe.

Easiest way to play imports on a US system would be a boot disc, such as Utopia. If you don't want to swap discs, and you can't find a modchip, there are alternatives though.

There's a way to "convert" your system to another region, but once you do that, you won't be able to play US games without a boot disc, or modchip. (unless you convert the system back to US) One of my Dreamcasts has been converted to JP region, since I don't like swapping discs. Works well.

IMO, get a DC-X or a Gameshark as they support VGA.

If ya ask me, buy the game & keep it sealed, then download a cracked copy from the net. I see no harm playing a backup disc for a game you bought.

It fucks up the laser on your system, that's all.

thats made up BS that some kids made up to make themselves feel better about spending money on a game compared to pirates who get the game free.

No, it doesn't. I've been using back-ups on mine since 2001 and had no problems. I've never known anyone else who has had problems either. The ONLY system that ever had problems with back-ups is the Neo Geo CD.

There's actually a good chance that your DC will play backups and imports natively, without any need for modding or a boot disc. Mine plays both and I've never tampered with it in any way(It's a US system).

I'm pretty sure there's a list online somewhere that will let you cross-reference your system's serial # or hardware revision to determine import/backup compatibility. I remember reading that something like 60% of US Dreamcasts should be able to play both backups and imports with no tampering. That may be a bit optimistic, but check that out before you spend any money.
