This is a very common problem with US Turbo Duo's. The problem usually occurs after about 2 hours of use, due to heat build up.

Send D-Lite a PM, if anyone can fix it he can. He also offers a fan mod for the system.

Take it apart and do a shot gun method of replacing all the caps on its pcb. This tends to fix the general audio issues, and in the process gives your system nice new caps. Sometimes if its just the cd audio cutting out,the cap fix will work, but sometimes its because the laser is going dead or needs tweaking. Replacement lasers can be purchased still. You will have to check around for them.

I have been through 4 turbo duo's this way and it sucks. Including my last Duo I had D mod for me. If you get it fixed make sure you get a fan installed to cool the system off and ALWAYS when finished playing a CD rom do the Run Select to go back to the duo start up screen. If you don't the cd keeps spinning.

I have come to the conclusion Duo's are garbage. I have been figuring out for the last few months what way I want to go when I get another turbo system. Unfortunatly it is near impossible to find a CD attachment and the RAU30 adaptor for the super grafx. Which I think is the ultimate set up.

I have always took extra special care of my duo systems and they always break. If I ever got one again I would not buy one unless I got a fan installed.

i don't play the system anymore anyway, but partially because of that sound cut out. i bought the system for dracula x, and now that i beat it, i don't really ever feel the need to go back to it. i just really hate when i know something is wrong with anything i have. besides, a game is so much better when it actually has sound. common response now seems to be that it needs a fan, so i'll go to radio shack and install one.

I agree,TD's are in bad shape. Its number one on my "badly made consoles" list. Took me almost a year to repair just 2 of them.

Yep I am having the sound issue as well with the fading in and fading out CD audio. It happened after playing my system for a hour or so. Any links for the screwdriver model would be nice.

While I am at it, I need to open my dead NES Toploader and one dead NES cart.

Cool, ideas for making gamebits. I just went ahead and bit the bullet by going to nintendorepair.com website. I bought the 4.5mm gamebit and the Nintendo repair kit that includes a new 72 pin connector, cart cleaning paste/solution (which I hear works damn well even for Neo Geo carts), plus some wiping cloths with the 3.8mm gamebit. Cost me $30.00 with the shipping. Not all that bad.

A fan is definitaly a good idea if you are in a warm room or play for more than 2 hours or so.

I completely fixed my Turbo Duo sound problem after replacing all of the miniture PC Board type capacitors (the big ones are usually fine since those don't seem to have the dry/leakage problem.) It seems that it is best to not only replace the actual 5 caps near the op amp but also to replace the ones just to the right that are 22uf and 47uf and then ultimately I have feeling the the 10uf and 47uf just to the left of the M5025 chip needs to be replaced. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to replace all of them just about except for the big capacitors.

If you ever need a good fix for your Duo's I will do it for practically nothing compared to what people normally charge. The reason I want to do this is to see what all possibilities there are with the capacitors and if the problem also has to do with the laser lens. Of course I won't touch the laser lens at all. I have the gamebits to open the system and it is real easy and risk free to do this fix.

Im such a foolish fool :loco:
I tried the bic pen idea from the link you posted eclypse to try and unscrew that last screw on a sega nomad. The shaft was too deep and the pen melted to the sides of the screw shaft and broke off. I had to break the end of the screw shaft to get the nomad open. But lucky for me the break was a clean one and could glue it back on after i removed the screw with a nut driver. Used a nail on the other end to push the pen out.
