I've been trying to figure out what will be the next big thing to last for a couple of years in the arcade.

The Atomiswave flopped, the naomi cant possably be getting to many more titles and, the lingberg is a joke.

What do you think will be the next big arcade system? I think Taito Type X2 will be a huge flop and was so stupid for SNK to move to that platform.

If it came to Taito Type X vs Lindbergh, my money is on Lindbergh. Even if Sega is the only developer for it.

I don't know about the next big thing but it makes me mad that the AW came into being when the naomi 1 could have handle all the software easily especially since it was more powerful.

Naomi was more mainstram, I have to this day have not seen a AW setup anywhere. Now a chapter in flagship franchises such as metal slug and kof will be lossed due to playmore decision to support that hardware. How do you fiqure AW is cheaper, you do know that hardware was a big scam sega pulled off to liquidate dreamcast components.

Atomiswave, Naomi, Hikaru, and Dreamcast were all based on the same family of components.

And I'm pretty sure that Sammy launched Atomiswave about a year before they bought out / merged with SEGA.

I hate that I am saying this because I love the arcade deeply, but, the wisest investment would be not to invest in any of this new hardware. I would bet my last dollar that none of it will really stand the test of any amount of time. Sure there will probably be some great and exclusive titles on all of the formats, but that surely won't make it cost justifiable...

Tempest, if you're one of those guys who can actually get it to run.

A man who can restore Tempest boards will always have work.

well yeah since they just used all the surplus dreamcast components they had laying around. The AW is a inferior variant of the naomi

Are you an operator or coinop distributor???

Unless you are, none of this is a wise invstment as the value of boards drop over time.... Or die.

Naomi is awesome and has still seen some releases I'd expect lindberg to do well VF5 would be a great lindberg title to have probably the best one of course there are only about five titles, I've only played House of the dead 4, that was awesome. Best of luck with the arcade business will you be the only one or one of a few in your area? We only have a few in my area but thats more than enough, tough business these days.

Hyper 64? those have horriable 3d ablities and terriable 2d. It wasnt geared towards 2d so its not good enough for quality 2d and its 3d technology in it is simply far to out dated :/

BTW DDR is way to noisy to have in a store/ arcade and far to much space is used.
