Did anyone play both GTA games for the PSP?

With the price drop on the PSP core systems, I am thinking about picking one up again and a couple of games.

I am interested in GTA for the PSP but don't want to buy both games. From the reviews I have read, I can't tell if one was better than the other. Did anyone play both GTA games that can comment on which was better?

Thanks...

I sort have. I own both and put alot of time into LCS but only an hour so far into VCS (was busy with other games).

From my little play VCS seems to controll and play a little better but I still prefer LCS because I just prefer LC the most. As well the whole setup of the story as well as the lovely dialog makes LCS a game that must be played.

Either way, One of them will make you happy regardless which one you get :buttrock:

Okay...thanks. They both got good reviews but I couldn't tell if one would be the better choice over the other. Right now, I really don't want both because I wouldn't have the time.

Have you played previous GTA games? If so what did you like more. Liberty City or Vice City.

It kind of more comes down to a preference of which city and story you liked more.

I personaly have always had a preference to Libery City and the whole italian mob side of libery city so I enjoy LCS more.

Vice City Stories is actually really good in my opinion. That game's received a lot of attention here. Liberty City Stories is fun, but I've always liked the whole 80s theme of VCS. Seems a little more refined than LCS.

I have played very little of the GTA series. I liked what I played (Probably less than an hour of each game) but not enough to really like one over the other. I take it that the PSP versions are similar to the PS2 versions then?

I am sure they are both good and I probably can't go wrong with either. I just doubt that I will ever own both and if one was considered to be much better, I would probably go that way. However, it sounds like everyone will have their own preference.

Why not get both?

I'm sure you can get both games for under $40 used.

I like LCS more, but only because I like the Mafia stye character more. VCS is a bit more advanced though, since you can swim and do some stuff you can't in LCS.

Two flavors of ice cream, but still ice cream either way.

They're both good, and I still can't believe games like that can be handheld now.

Vice City Stories is the better game, both gameplay and story wise. Tony is a better lead than Vic though. So Vice City Stories 2 Liberty City Stories 1.

I finished LCS, it was really fun. Great game. I started VCS but got distracted by other games. It is slightly more polished but basically very similar. Both are worthwhile games. In fact, I like them more than the console brothers for some reason.

having played both for a while, Id say go with LCS, the missions seemed a bit more varied then VCS which had plenty of "fetch this" missions, though they are both good ones.

I haven't bothered buying the PSP, but I did buy the bargain versions of these games on PS2 because I love the series (I got all the console-only versions on X-Box). I'm only about 20% into VCS and have completed LCS. I'd say, so far, that both are quite good. I think they definitely added a bit more depth to VCS (with "Empire building", a bigger map, etc), but both are solid. Even though these are side-stories, they actually do a very good job on two of the most important, but underrated, parts of the GTA-system: (1) the voice-acting is still awesome (given the story context, the guy they cast as the main character in LCS has the perfect mob hood voice) and (2) the stories have the same sort of amusing tone the other games have, and do an interesting job of working into the previous larger game, only a few years previous (I really liked the way things are different between the LC maps).

Both are worth it.

I've played both on the PSP - VCS is more polished than LCS - it also takes a little time to get used to the camera-look (hold L + stick).

I played LCS to completion - and I had no real complaints about it - fantastic being able to play this on PSP (im a pig nut for portable gaming and enjoy seeing console experiences fit onto a handheld). There is also a hack that allows you to mess around with the game - set the PSP to 333Mhz, change gravity, etc etc. Fantastic.

Battery life running these games is around three hours, which is very favourable.

May I also recommend you purchase MGS PO. Great game. Also - Outrun Coast to Coast
