Yeah, he should send it back to Sony. It's not like it'll cost him anything anyway... It'll be less of a hassle for everyone. The warranty is there, might as well use it.

As long as Sony will cover everything, with him being the owner, I don't see a problem. Either way, he is going to have to mail the system some where, so he might as well send it in to get it fixed.

This is why I am always afraid to mail high priced systems, you never can tell how the were treated along the way.
