King of the Monsters

Thoughts, opinions? How about part 2... did you feel it was a good sequel?

I love King Of The Monsters. It is the best wrestling game on the Neo, IMO. Yes, I realise it does not have the word "wrestling" in the title, but it seems more like a wrestling game to me than 3 Count Bout. Two player action is the real reason to own this game, as playing with just the CPU gets old after a bit.

I have not played the second one in a long time, but I seem to recall being disappointed in it. Cannot recall exactly why. Oh well, now I have an excuse to go play it again and find out.

KOM2 was a severe dissappointment:

But I'm not totally pissed by it:
They tried to make a sequel be revolutionizing the look and gameplay -in which case you risk total success or dismal failure... and they failed (but don't blame them for trying)

Pros:
-The graphics were much better
-The differnent monster powerups were faster to get
-the ability to pick up and throw buildings!! (something I had dreamed of)
-more humans weapons
-international cities
-terrain had more of an effect
-became a wrestling/side-scroller
-continues tradition of nice music
-interesting story continuation

Cons:
-Music wasn't as good as the first
-elimination of the wrestling ring
-only THREE monsters!? (no beetle mania, I almost cried)
-VERY cheap grappling system
-BAD control overall
-UNBELIEVABLY cheap last boss (I had to buy the MVS just to beat him with enough credits)
-lame ending


The game was killed by cheap AI and bad controls

Guess its about time I sat down and penned another review instead of chatting all day and night...

I like KOTM 1, KOTM 2 was not as good. GEON is my favorite char, bettile mania is my second fav. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
