Just by accident while playing this game a few days ago I did something that seemed like a 'fatality' or something like that. I checked the LB2 FAQ but didn't see anything about this.

Anyone know anything of these finishing moves?

It's a special match end that only happens if you slice the opponent a certain way. LB1, as well as I think every Samurai Shodown game, had a similar thing. Certain characters, such as Lee Rekka or Okina, can't do this move, however (I believe it can only be done if your character has access to an edged weapon; i.e., a blade). It can even be done by Zantetsu's wave projectile from LB1 (when it was a regular move and not a DM).

Hibiki actually has a special ending if you do the kill enough times.

Basically any move that doesn't knock the opponent down, but is a hard slash with a blade-type weapon will split them in LB, I'd assume it's similar in LB2. examples: Yuki's dash-slash (QCB+B I think), or Zantetsu's QCF+B. Zantetsu's desperation move (2x HCB + B, only Power mode with flashing energy bar) will actually rip the enemy into 2 pieces as well, in a nicely brutal way.

there are, I've seen the final boss cut someone in half, and a friend of mine managed to do it once too at the end of a fight (DC version, tho)

Yeah there are finishing moves in LB2..in the MVS cart you have to turn them on via a soft dip...dunno about the AES

in LB 1 on MVS, the soft dip is called "Cruel Fight".. not sure about the name in LB2, but I guess it's similar.
