Greetings,

On another board, I entered into a transaction to have a custom stick builder build me a two player setup for a project. I can get into all of the details later but basically, it's been eight months and he keeps saying he'll refund my money but never does. Sure, it's $200 and I could go on without it, but it's the principle. Anyone know how I could best proceed? Cops? I know his home address and have all the emails from our exchange including his promises to pay and dates that he promised to send by, all of which were false.

What's the best way to proceed with this? As I think the route of being the nice guy has got me nowhere. :oh_no:

Yes, you are way past the dispute filing process through Paypal.

First I would start a thread at the other board and bring this to light there, as there might be more people in your situation. If nothing else you can warn that community against dealing with the guy.

The next step would be to get all your ducks in a row as far as collecting all correspondence (emails, PM's, etc). You can contact the police department in his area and see what they can do for you. Beyond that, I don't know what else you can do. Filing mail fraud charges is probably out because you used Paypal.

Good luck getting this resolved.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to look into calling the police there and see what they say though I'm guessing they'll likely refer me to small claims court.

Doesn't seem too likely to me that you're going to get your money at this late date, so do the next best thing and make sure to post all relevant info about him here and at the other site, so that you at least can rest assured you've managed to spread the word about this dude's shady business practices.

Sorry about that, man, definitely a bummer when someone scams you, especially for a decent chunk of change like that.
