I used to have the original one and the color one. The games really weren't the greatest for it. The only games that really held my attention were the super robot wars games.

if you're into v-shooters, get a swancrystal and judgement silversword.

it is a bit on the expensive side, but i guarantee you won't regret it.

most anything wonderswan related can be found on ebay.

i got jss a few months back for about $120. they pop up
every once in a while for about that price and to answer
your questions- the swancrystal has a superior screen.
and wonderswans were only released in japan. so you'd
only be safe buying non-text heavy games. i think that
front mission and maybe a few others are playable though.

maybe give oswan (an emulator) a try to see if you'll like it.

Wonderswans are great for collectors as they came in a ton of Special Editions, like mine for example, i haven't found another like it, honestly didn't look that hard but still, I have a 20th Anniversary Gundam Edition Wonderswan B&W with a Gundam game. Its totally unplayable because it's a big robot RPG so I can't tell what the hell anything is since it's totally in Japanese. But it's a nice addition to my collection anyway.

Can WonderSwan Color games be played on the WonderSwan Crystal and does the handheld have a front-lit or back-lit screen? :)

yes, they are backwards compatible. you can play wsc and ws mono games on a swancrystal. they didn't come w/ lights installed unfortunately. there's a site called mash-mods that provides this service.
