1. Anyone wanna play co-op?

2. If you haven't played Crackdown yet and you enjoy games like GTA III, VC, SA, etc, then I highly recommend you give it a go.

3. And remember, if you preorder Crackdown through EB, you supposedly get early access to the (limited?) Halo 3 Beta.

I think I'll give it a go tonight. The Sandbox nature alone is ok, but I'm more excited to see how *super hero* this cop is. Kind of like leaping tall buildings in a single bound and chucking vehicles and stuff. Being a sandbox nature, perhaps that means this has more interactive objects than your typical offline super-hero game. Nevertheless, I've had a lot of fun with Marvel Ultimate Alliance online, especially with voice-chat. I'll take you on, for this one.

On another note:

Last night, I got Jasmine (my PM) up and ready in PSU. And yep. She's an absolute boon in that game. Helped me get through Mad Creatures S-rank (solo) without having to go back and refill. Now THAT'S an accomplishment.

She kicks butt, but there's one thing you have to watch out for. Her independant status means she stays in the fight longer, so if you see her getting hurt (and you don't have the provisions to heal right now), make sure you get as far away from the battlefield as quickly as possible since she takes time to follow.

Fun times, indeed. We had to jump through a little hoops to play together, though. For your information, folks, the demo separated playing with folks on your friends list from everybody else; and then they disabled the ability to simply set up a friends-list specific game from the demo. (eg. the option is there but ghosted out). So we had to do a little temporary friends-list removal to get a session going before we resynched our friends-list afterwards. Still, it was a little tricky to connect, in that manner. We did it though and got some Co-op in.

My impressions are that the game mixes a bit of what Narc 3D should've been. (The idea that you're fighting bad guys, jumping into cars, and possibly using way-over-the-top ordinance to take down criminals. (Sometimes leading to big destruction and explosions galore)), and a Super Hero game. One moment, you're Narc, the next, something out of City of Heroes. :)

I guess the environment is befitting of something out of Robocop, in a way. That's what you feel like in comparison to the rest of the police force. I think I mentioned to Magician that this game is missing some announcer or tv show with a guy saying, "I'll buy THAT for a dollar!!!" (Though that line was already pinched in Midway's Smash TV)

True, it is a free roaming game, but sort of one with a purpose. The game itself is sort of to a Super Hero 3D version of Narc as the New Castlevanias are to the old ones. You do a lot of similar fun things, but the linear progression removed in favor of a map system.

As you gain powers, things get more interesting though, as you start to leap tall buildings in a single bound, etc. I haven't gotten to the strength level of picking up and tossing cars though. Agility, on the other hand, is found all over the place, so getting some good speed and jumping ability is easy to attain. Sometimes the fun is figuring out how to use your powers to get to certain *hard to reach* areas.

Targetting is well done, and allows you to *call shots* with it fairly early in the game. However, take note, the better your called shot (with the lock on system), the lower the percentage (compared to your gun skill) of chance to hit it with your guns. So just because you lock-on targetting the head. Many of times, that would be the slow way to go at it because you'll miss a lot more than just targetting the large torso area. Of course, using the zoom feature instead, with no auto-aim, will hit precisely what you're aiming at.

Co-op with this game is quite good. There was no lag to be found. The framerate didn't bog down when the action was intense (20-30 enemies in the same area). Narc 3D describes this title perfectly, it's all about running and gunning; in a way, it feels like a fusion of GTA and Mercenaries.

The lock-on system is easy to pick up and moderately difficult to master, you can't toggle to the next nearest enemy, you have to move the target area relatively close to your next enemy for the lock-on to take. Once you lock on you can target general areas of the body to inflict various damage, the legs, torso, head, left arm, and the right arm. Each area takes certain amount of time to lock-on and that time depends on the area you're targeting and the weapon your using. Head shots are one-shot kills, but you must keep you lock-on trained anywhere from 8 seconds (hand gun) to 3 seconds (sniper rifle). Zoom is not required and imo, wastes the potential multiple uses with the d-pad.

Like GTA, you're freeroaming most of the time. While freeroaming you can search out ability icons to increase your stats, compete in vehicle and roof-jumping races with the AI, free supply stations of gang control (these are the resupply and weapon-switch areas), or attack boss hideouts (removal of a boss reduces the number of gang members in the area). My concern is that those appear to be the only things to do in the game. The achievement list reveals nothing extra to do or be done. This could be a very short game, 15-20hrs, not including co-op.

I'm starting to feel that is game is not worth $60.

i enjoy the game a fair deal, just wish that it didn't have a time-out on it.. ah well

gotten to the top of the agency building yet? there's a hidden orb on the very top spire of the building. just takes a lot of trial and error, and 4 star agility, which can be had very quickly if you just go through the amusement park and the beach to get 3 star, and then just jump around the city to get level 4.

overall a very fun game, corny theme, and yes, it does feel like robocop almost.

i wonder though, since your skill climbs faster in the demo, is 4 stars in whatever in the demo what the max will be in the full game, or if demo 4 star will equate to full game 2 star. time will tell. either way, 4 star strength is ridiculous, almost anyone will go down in one roundhouse kick.

additionally, hit squads might be intimidating at first, but if you just level up your explosives to 2 star or more, lock onto their cars.. they're finished, fun to watch.

i'll probably buy this one, should keep me entertained until Guitar Hero 360 comes.

Yes, level 4 for each ability is the max. You've got to figure the most you'll get from the ability "?" icon pickups is 1-2 points at best.
