Finally, a DS game I want to play, the last 3 months has just been recycled CRAP.

Go watch some trailers or hit up the site, I'm too cool to refer links to you.

yeah, i passed on phoenix wright 2 this week so that i could pick up hotel dusk next week. i'm on a tight budget right now.

hopefully i'll still be able to buy phoenix wright 2 a few months from now with not too much problems.

i don't even really completely understand how hotel dusk is going to play. is it more like trace memory(another code) or phoenix wright? or a mix of the two?

regardless, the game looks really cool and has been getting good reviews from the gaming press.

I ordered this game, it looks really good. I think it is suppose to ship today and should be in stores tomorrow. It has received some really good reviews as well.

Is the game play in Hotel Dusk similar to Trace Memory?

I thought that I read that it was by the same company and is similar in play. Although much much better. (I believe that EGM gave it a 10)

Trace Memory = Another Code

Ah, thanks!

I just assumed that Another Code was called Another Code in other regions too...

Can't say Trace Memory grabbed me though. I think the wife beat it, but I got bored with it pretty quick. Story was good, but gameplay was pretty weak. Still, if Hotel Dusk plays much better like they are saying, it should be a solid little title.

Hmm, need to trade some more software... I pick up Gradius and Salamander collections tomorrow.

I had imported Another Code from the UK for my wife and she really liked it. I tried it and found it to be okay. Hotel Dusk is suppose to be much better.

EDIT:My copy has shipped from EBGames, so I should have it tomorrow.

Hmm, the intro reminds me of Deja Vu for the NES.

Interesting; looks pretty rad so far.

Whenever I look at the main character, I'm reminded of Tantei Jinguuji Saburou (guy in gmw's avatar is the main character in that series).

Anyone know if it's anything at all like that?

Supposedly this is much better than Trace Memory.

Trace was a good game with some inventive gameplay (making a stamp by closing the DS), just over way too quickly ($35 game with 5 hours playtime and zero replay value = :( )

I got it a few days ago. The art style for the characters is really cool. The 3d stuff is lame though.
Just don't go in expecting action oriented gameplay. I would say the game is more akin to an interactive novel then anything else. And it has some puzzel solving on the side. Which can be frustrating at times cause sometimes you are not sure what you have to do to advance the story.
I would say the Phoenix Write games are better. But this has more interactivity then those games.

So far I would give it a B+.

Sounds too close to Trace Memory. Other reviews I have seen are saying the same thing.

Trace Memory/Another Code hit the 2nd hand market really fast in Japan, so this will probably do the same. May pick it up 2nd hand, or just wait for Prof Layton instead.

I am only on the third chapter so I can't really say. So far it looks like it is more grounded in reality then Indigo. As in their is no super natural stuff going. Just some ex-cop looking for his partner. And their isn't any quick time button presses ala Shenmue/RE4 either. Just simple puzzles that you solve using the touch screen and mic.
I think this game will be relying heavily on the characters and the story then on real gameplay. Which is fine for me cause I kinda expected that when I saw some of the videos. I look at it as a new way to read a comic book or a novel then an actual game.

Picked this up yesterday, I'm loving the artstyle and the dialogue, but I could have done without some of the cheesy 3d models, like the absolutely horrible looking box/car, I mean, why couldn't they just use hand-drawn sprites for everything?
