Oh crap...

If you cut the big thick red wire that goes to the rubber suction cup on the side of the picture tube then you need to find some high-voltage putty to insulate it. There's around 25,000 volts running through it and it will arc right through most things.

You may be better off spending the big bucks (30 to 80) buying a replacement transformer for it.

No, won't pull right off.

There's a metal clip under it. You have to discharge it to the metal frame of the monitor chassis since it can hold a charge for weeks.

Take a long bladed flat head screwdriver and a wire with aligator clips on each end. Clip one end to the screwdriver and the other to the chassis. Slide the screwdriver tip under the suction cup and let it touch the metal connector.

Wait 5 min and do it again.

Then you can peel up the cup and unclip the metal clip in there to remove it.

I can't find any info on the flyback for that monitor so you may be stuck with trying to repair it.

No.

I think that monitor you have is a Medium Resolution monitor.

What game board is it hooked to? That's one way to verify it is medium res.

Those medium res monitors are hard to find!

Oh, t3h drama!

It's not that bad... It's like getting zapped from a spark plug on a car which isn't fun at all. I'd say it's less so really since you'll have more current going to the spark plug than to the CRT.
