Anyone replaced a PSP LCD?

Previously my PSP had a single dead pixel. As of today, I've noticed two new ones have cropped up for some reason. I've been looking into replacing the LCD since I'm somewhat tech-savy and capable of such a thing myself. However, I'm not sure where would be a good place to purchase a replacement LCD. Has anyone had to do this before and have a good place they can recommend? I don't want to replace my LCD only to have the new one with dead pixels as well. So if there is a site that garuntees a dead pixel free LCD that would be great.

Try running a dead pixel checker before replacing the whole LCD. ;)

Both of my ceramic white and black PSP have dead pixels, but I have not replaced LCD screens yet.

However, I have taken apart PSP several times and replace power boards and buttons before. I have purchased parts from eBay and somehow boards looked slightly different, I was able to fix a few of my friends' dead PSPs. Opening wasn't too tough; just 9 screws in the back and about 13 screws inside. If LCD bought from eBay or some other place comes with the backlighting, I'm sure it isn't too hard since all you need to do would be unscrew 9 screws in the back and bottom and unhook the LCD, replace the LCD and plug tiny power cable and a ribbon cable. You just need to be careful with those ribbon cables because I had to buy one of the PCB boards again because I snapped the ribbon cable locking mechanism once.

I wonder if I can buy the better screen used on TA-086 PSPs on ebay...

Edit: I don't know about other people, but the dead pixel checker/remover homebrew software didn't do anything for both of my PSPs. I've tried two different video versions, a homebrew software version and none of them worked although I followed their readme/faq. In fact, I think one of the video version made it worse because now I can notice dead pixels on my black one even more.

That's for stuck pixels, there isn't crap you can do for dead pixels as far as I know. I ran that already and left it going overnight (I fell alseep) and it didn't help at all.

I've taken the PSP apart before because I did a D-Pad modification to make it less shitty. Before, I couldn't play Darkstalkers because getting the diagonals to read was next to impossible. After the D-Pad mod it upped the sensetivity enough that 90% of the time my input registers just fine. Should I find a good place to get a new LCD screen from when I install it I'll likely refine my D-Pad mod a bit to see if I can get it working even better. I think I've started to wear it down some with all the CPS2 games.

Its pretty easy replacing an LCD screen, but never bought one. I had a secondary PSP which had a busted UMD drive with a 1.5 FW, but the link TonK posted is pretty reliable from what people say. Theres other places that sell em cheaper. Do a google search and see what you can come up with.

Edit: Or see if you can find a secondary PSP for a reasonable price.

Yeah, the only issue is finding a site that doesn't have a screw you policy. Being that if there are any dead pixels on the LCD, I can get it replaced, instead of being stuck with it or having to buy yet another one.

I'd say go to a pawn shop and see if someone can let one go (with no dead pixels of course) and switch them.

From personal experience I say goto ConsoleZombie.com
Just a few weeks ago I got a UMD assembly and followed the great instructions and was able to replace it. It actually was easier than I thought but I was scared shit-less.
Their site looks very unofficial but I got my UMD drive within a week of placing my order. They are very good. The Screens they sell are 29.99 and their shipping is really cheap.
