I would like to know the best obscure games for the system like ones that have gone under the radar, and not the generic stuff.

One that I picked up as a fan of the series but I didn't even know exsisted was F-Zero Climax (Jap only) and I'd say its a nice addition to the series if you like them and can find a copy.

Can't think of anything else I have that'd be off the radar really.

Sigma Star Saga - Shoot 'em Up RPG (I freaking loved this game)

Shining Soul II (not 1, it sucks) - dungeon crawler

Sword of Mana - port + expansion of Final Fantasy Aventure

Astroboy: Omega Factor - half action, half shooter

Pocky, Rocky, & Beckey - same awesome Pocky & Rocky action from SNES

Sabre Wulf (by Rare) is one of the best GBA games out there.

EDIT:Couple other good suggestions in this thread that I forgot about.
Pocky and Rocky and Ninja Five-0. (If you can find them)

I wouldn't say Drill Dozer is overlooked, but there'd been little buzz about this most excellent platformer. Game seemed setup for a sequel, but sales apparently were not good enough to secure the development cost for one. What a shame. Very cute sprites, nice animation, fantastic implementation of rumble feature, very satisfying puzzle/action hybrid.

Ninja Five-O cannot be mentioned enough.

The Summon Night: Swordcraft Story games also fell a bit under the radar but are terrific Action/RPGs (especially the second one.)

Ninja Five-O

Kuru Kuru Kururin - Launch game in JP, pretty decent little title. Odd game, lots of fun.

Tiny Toons Scary Dreams - Treasure beat 'em up. Fun game.

Not overlooked, but certainly should not be missed: Metroid Zero Mission, Zelda: Minish Cap.

Has anyone mentioned Ninja five-o yet?

Seriously though, All three Castlevanias, Klonoa 2, Shining Force, both Kofs, Pinball of the Dead is pretty good too.

Rhythm Tengoku - A collection of quirky,rhythm-based mini games from the makers of Wario Ware.

Koutetsu Teikoku - Old-school shmup by Hot-B. Looks and plays better than its Genny counterpart.

Elevator Action Old & New - Classic platformer w/a face lift. An addictingly fun title that shouldn't be passed up.

Haro no Puyo Puyo - Fun puzzler w/Gundam characters.

Double Dragon Advance - A retelling of the arcade masterpiece. A definite must-have.

Huh, from what I remember, it didn't play that well. The music seemed decent at best. Maybe my memory is bad, but I don't remember having any fun with that game at all. It just wasn't fun IMO.

It played just as well,if not better, than the original.

Well, I might have to give it another go. I just watched some You Tube videos and I don't remember it looking or sounding that good. My memory must be getting fuzzy in my old age.:D

Agreed 100%, absolute fanstastic game. I still have yet to pick up Final Fight One, does it play well? Some other notable mentions if your into tactics games, the Super Robot series is like crack, and the Shining Force remake is really good.

Final Fight One is really good, imo. It's a near carbon-copy of the arcade original.

I picked up the JPN release at launch, and I still have it to this day.

I might have to try Koutetsu Teikoku out. I just saw one on ebay for around 30 new. I'm also a fan of Hot-B.

I am kicking myself every single night for not picking that game up. Especially, I am a Gundam nut and I have actually read all the Japanese comics "Kidou Sendan Haro no Ichiza" which is base of that game. Somehow I don't see that game nowadays. I see the newer DS version of the game but its Majong and I don't know how to play Majong.

I'll give Koutetsu Teikoku a try. (I looked up the actual cover of the game and it translates into something like "Steel Empire" or "Full Metal Empire")

Shame Koutetsu Teikoku isn't working with gpSP....

Agreed. It plays just like the arcade, but with better graphics, those same great tunes from DD 1 & 2 slightly jazzed up, more moves, new enemies, more enemies on screen simultaneously, and most importantly no slowdown.

When I clicked on this thread, Ninja Five-O was on my mind. I'm surprised so many of you guys have played it since it didn't receive much fanfare when it came out.

Lets see, what else... I guess the only other "underappreciated" games I have are:

Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis - Great strategy game

Tron 2.0: Killer App - Surprisingly good isometric action game mixed with puzzle and first person 3D segments. Similar to, but much better than Scurge: Hive.
