It couldn't hurt to have a dedicated MOD for the Marketplace, and Phillip has shown time and time again that he is always willing to help, and knows what he is talking about in regard to many different issues.

He is never hesitant to get involved when members are having a dispute or a problem arises, and he is extremely diplomatic in how he mediates each situation. I have wanted there to be a Marketplace MOD for sometime now (many of us have wanted it), and this should definitly be brought up for consideration again.

Thanks for your time MODS.

agree 101%

Philip is absolutely trustworthy and could give the higher ups a precious help (eh, as He already does).

I suggested this to Phil before when we were having a conversation about a bad transaction with another member.

Like I said in example thread, no one moderates, so the rules mean shit. This should change.

I would agree with this as well. I have dealt with Phillip several times and he is a good guy. He also lends advice (not one sided) when disputes have come about between members.

I don't understand what is meant by "no one here moderates"

for the most part, people are free to say things. What's a mod supposed to do? judge transactions? Seek out and weigh evidence from both sides and issue a decree? Within reason, none of these expectations can be met, much less with success.

I'm not saying that no one moderates, I know that's not true (though I don't think that comment was directed towards me). I just think it lends some legitimacy to the Marketplace, and might help deter some of the people who come here to scam. I know that in essence a Marketplace MOD wouldn't do a whole lot, but it's just the potential psychological deterrent that might be a bonus :)

Just a suggestion.

We have enough mods, we don't need anyone else taking their powers to advantage.

having mods hasn't deterred people from much. In the end, it's still about mods banning problem members. We're janitorial, not symbolic monoliths of terror, inducing the actions of members from beyond 'a whispy rhinoceros fart.'

I don't care for more mods unless it's for people who are more into the neo geo than just being here for transactions/drama/etc. I more wish that the old mods would come back.

i like all the mods here, except ftl.
he's kind of a douchebag.

ive never seen a mod here step out of line.
and, what i mean by that is, let the title go to their head.

every other forum i browse is full of tools.
and the mods are super tools.

thats why i call ng.com home.

One day I'll be a symbolic monolith of terror. One day... :envy:

If Phillip wants to be a mod, I say let him. He's a super nice guy.

Idea.....if you see a very shady selling thread ( known scammer or something just very fishy about it ), just make a thread bringing attention to everyone else and we'll lynch mob rule by spamming the fuck out of the thread.

A little self-governing can go along way.

Another vote for the guy who hoovers up all the rare stuff even if he has it already, just to sell on later.

I wouldn't mind if bulletnyourass was mod. He seems like a good guy and always active here, plus I'm fairly certain he has a Neo Geo of some kind.

On another note, I don't think someone should be a mod here when they don't own a Neo Geo.:spock:

Totally agree. Phil usually looks out for others in selling threads,
and seems to be responsible enough to do a good job.

For what it's worth, Philip would be a great Marketplace mod. His strengths have already been discussed in detail, and anything I'd put here would border on redundancy.

On the note Wasabi brought up...

wasabi said:

...I think Philips appointment as a MOD would allow him to do just that. Arguably, he takes the most initiative of any member here to get to the thick of a questionable or shady deal. He's also got a familiarity with postal affairs and procedures which gives him a certain insight. He also, if I may be so bold to say, can look at things through the both of the perspectives that seem to be at odds in the Marketplace forum, the mass market gamer looking for the good deal and the ivory tower collector who can't have his US AES cart fall prey to a ball of lint, and weigh their concerns equally.

When it comes down to it, all he would do is keep problem members in check. In this case, instead of a problem member being excessively problematic or disrespectful that is cited by mods in the non-market forums, it's the member that doesn't have a good command of time management or uses lies and misinformation to cheat members in the market forums. Philip's got a good eye for it.

If and how it's implemented with the forum's backend software and access is up to the powers that be, but I don't think it couldn't hurt. Just my thoughts.

EDIT: Bullet, do you take your first name with one L or two?
