What's wrong with my supergun/4-slot setup?

Well, I ordered a 4-slot and supergun, and when I get everything connected and power up the supergun, I get this mess on the screen:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and go ahead and laugh at the composite video cable, I know it sucks.

That looks bios related, correct me if I am wrong. If its a socket pull it out and put it back in.

No luck, thanks for the tip though.

Anyone else know what the issue could be?

Have you checked the 5v line to see if it's not too low?

With a voltmeter, you mean? If so, where would I find this wire? If it is reading too low, how would I fix it?

Sorry for nothing but questions...

i have the same problem..

it can't be bios related 'cause myself can play that 4 slot in the cabinet perfectly..is the supergun that give me that problem..
i tried either unibios or the original one

mkl told me that maybe the +5V line have a too thin cable i changed it from the jamma harness to the PSU but nothing changed..
i realized that my SG have others thin cables inside i want to change them one by one

wait for him like me :P

btw can you post a pic of your SG?

ok, MKL told me that is a connection problem, cable-wise

check the diameter of the +5V and ground cable they have not to be too thin
check also the PSU line to the SGfor the same problem..i have some fuse on that line that *can* give problems i'll try bypassing

another question that comes in my mind is how much current does the 4 slot absorb..i think is higher than a normal 1 slot but how much?
and the PSU how much current can provide?

fixed..my problem were the cable from the PSU to the SG that was interrupted by 2 fuses (+5 and +12)
i linked the cable directly and now it works

Always measure the 5 volts at the boards edge connect not the psu as there will be voltage dropped in the harness. 5 volts at the psu could end up being 4.5 at the board wich is way low.

If the 5 volts is low it would usually cause a full green with a few gtx glitches towards thew LHS, like you see when the systen boots under normal circumstances prior to the Neo Geo start up jingle.

I agree the effect looked to be more bios related than low 5 volt supply.

Could you explain exactly what you mean? :help:

Sorry, I'm clueless when it comes to PCB/supergun stuff.

Not enough power on the +5V. That supergun has an SC200 power supply with it. Only some 4-slots will power up with that power supply.

When I get the chance to get the workshop put together (hopefully soon) I will be working on a simple adapter to use computer PSUs with these superguns to avoid these problems.
