If it can do the first game, it's not much of a stretch to do the second of even third is it? Portable RE2 would kick so much ass.

I haven't read anything about another. I think it would depend on how well the first one sold. If there is money to be made in another re make, I am sure that it will happen at some point.

I'll probably be playing RE2 on the PSP before they even think about porting it over to the DS.

Forget the 3rd game. If Biohazard 2, which also used the vibration cartridge was released, I'd superglue it into my DS.

There s not an infinite amount of space on a DS cartidge. 128MBytes max. a fifth of RE 3, a tenth of RE2 (but a lot of the data is redundant across both disks)

Sure you can compress the FMVs, but there would be horrible artifacts.

The audio is already compressed to death, you d have annoying hiss if trying to OGG them to reduce the size (they d have to be like 16kbits/s streams).

The RE games are perfect on PSP ;)
Leave to each console its own, N64 ports for DS and PS1 ports for PSP. Most of us own both anyway i think.

Couldn't they use the extra RAM cart from the DS browser?

I don't think the ram of the console is a limiting factor here, but the maximum size of cartidge is. Nintendo could develop higher capacity ones, memory is cheap, but that would cost more, increase the access times and reduce the battery life...

I think having Biohazard 2 on the go would be worth it.

the DS is 5.5v not 3v so it can do more than 128 based on voltage. Where has it been said 128mb is the max? Resident evil 2 came out for the N64 so why not the DS?

128 megabytes is not the max for the DS, but that s the max nintendo offers so far (i guess that s due to the already bad DSLite battery life when in max brightness).

Sure, RE2 can be ported from N64 to DS, but not PSX, because as far as i remember them, the FMVs were really heavily compressed and of very bad quality.

I don't care anyway, i can play them right now on the PSP, and will not wait for a port to be made for my DS.

They really just changed the resolution of the videos on the 64 version. They are very small on screen.

An example here http://youtube.com/watch?v=Us-gkt428Yc
