Installing a new monitor...

Hey everyone. I've worked with arcades for about 10 years now, but the one thing I've never touched was the monitor. They frighten me. If I'm not afraid of getting shocked to death I'm afraid I'll break the monitor. So here's my time to shine, this is where I venture into the world of arcade monitors.

I have two dilemmas. First, my Virtua Fighter 2 monitor has vertical rollback, so that the action going on at the top of the screen appears as if it's rolling behind its own image. Supposedly a cap kit can fix this, but I've never touched a monitor before, and something tells me that taking a pcb off a monitor isnt as easy as it sounds. The soldering part shouldn't be too hard, it's matching up the right caps and making sure I dont end up frying the damn thing that's the hard part.

And my second problem is more of a tweak than a problem. I have a couple MKII conversions that I wanted to replace the existing monitors with nice new hitachi A68KSA30X monitors. I already have one with that monitor, I just really like the MKII cabinet setup. So I would have to actually remove the existing monitor and somehow install an even bigger monitor. A monitor so big (29" I believe?) that theres apparently no plastic bezels for them. How hard is it to wire up a new monitor? The hitachi I'm talking about also seems to be pretty hard to find, and I get the feeling if I order one online that it will be missing a pcb or flyback or chassis or something.

What are your thoughts? Any help is greately appreciated!
Shmenge :)

That Hitachi part number is for a picture tube (CRT) and not a part number for a whole monitor. You need to find the model number for the monitor itself and not the tube.

Cap kits are cake to put in.

Oh, crap. I can't find anything on it that might be the model number of the entire monitor... I see a lot of things on it that say "WG 1687511", I'll take some pics cause theres no way in hell I'm opening the back of this cabinet again. Give me a minute or two.

Edit - heres the first pic http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/4305/dscf0803by2.jpg

Edit 2 - and the second http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/6479/dscf0805ti2.jpg

Edit 3 - and the third and fourth and fifth etc.

I can confirm it's a Nanao monitor, but I'm not familiar with their different models of monitors.

Ahh, thank you so much! every last bit of information helps! :)

If I were to buy, or find another 26" Nanao monitor how do you install one of those? You have to take the PCBs off first I imagine? I'm really afraid to take say, a 27" monitor out, without dropping it, and put a new 27" monitor in it, without breaking it. We really need like a video tutorial, or a photo tutorial showing us how to do this. :(
