Weird MOTW MVS Problem...........

I just finished building my CMVS about 4-5 months ago and today was the first time I tried to play my MOTW on it.

When it starts I noticed it says level 2 on the bottom of the screen, others it says 4. So when I try to play I noticed that the buttons are all mixed up AC are kicks and BD are punch BUT both sets are of the weak punch and kick, no strong punch or kick. Also I notice that once the match starts it says "Final Round" and the timer is set at 10 seconds.

So I do a soft reboot and set it as console euro to see if I can config the buttons, it wont let me, I tried all regions and settings and same thing. As soon as the screen comes up Light punch has A and Strong Kick has B and the 2 in between are blank and I can't change anything, it kinda freezes.

So then I do another soft reboot and do a CRC check, ROM Region was OK and ROM Bank 0-3 came up as "custom"

Now is this due to the fact that I am using a MV1C board that in order for it to boot I had to connect pins 39 and 40? Also am I supposed to leave 39 and 40 connected at all times or was it just for the very first initial boot of the board?

I know my cart isn't a boot as I used to play it on my AES via the blue P1 and it worked perfectly and both my AES and CMVS have UB 2.2 installed.

Here are some pics:

Strange indeed.

If no one offers a solution you can always borrow my copy to see if its copy specific or cartridge specific. Just don't keep it to long, I might lose my Garou mojo.

Does anyone else's ROM Bank 0-3 come up as "custom"?

I'll try to remember to test mine tonight and let you know how it turns out. I need an excuse to hook up the neo again anyway. :)

Then it has to be either that its an MV1C or that pin 39 and 40 are joined. Raz?

I just tried it again and the buttons are correct, I keep forgetting that in MOTW the buttons are slightly different BUT I could not do any special moves at all and the timer is still at 10 seconds and still the final round.

I've seen Raz post about this "custom" on the check and it's normal apparently.

So if it is then I think it is between the board and the bios, I doubt it's the Unibios as it would have affected my AES when I used the P1 to play it before.

So it is apparent that it is the MV1C having trouble with MOTW. Would it make a difference if I used a US copy of MOTW rather than a Japanese copy? From what I remember people saying is that everything on the games are the same.

This is the only game that gave me this problem. My newest game I have is KOF2k3 and it works perfectly, also my ROTD works no prob and my Matrimelee works no prob as well.

This sucks if I can't play MOTW on my MOTW themed CMVS.

I had a thread out where I was talking about this exact same problem!

let me see if I can find it.

http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151490

Yea after alot of post, people persuaded me that my board was dirty, and so I cleaned it and the problem remained! The garou works fine in other mvs boards, and other games work fine in that board... its odd! I have a usa grou, no boot.

I even went so far as to get my mvs1 board and garou tested, when the tech tested it everything was working fine.... Maybe a logic chip or something is mixed up, but I don’t know what to think at this point.... :oh_no:

The custom crc is fine for garou. That confirms you have a legit cart... However... The crc in your screenshot matches the older version of the game so maybe this is a bug that existed in the old version that was fixed....?

You should however be able to fix all the problems you mention by simply going into the games softdips (from test mode) and setting the dips as required.

playtime = 60
handicap = without
demo sound = with
how to play = with
difficulty = Level 4
credit = with
level = without
flash = with
win point = Com-2 vs-2
cont service with
country = others

Raz's post on that custom crt check is around here somewhere :annoyed: last time I saw it was searching for some Sam sho crt check/info.

PM him James and borrow Eric' s cart... Lend you mine aswell mate.

How did he fix it? He doesnt say. Dammit.

I know its not the cart, maybe I'll try cleaning the cart to see if thats a problem but I really doubt it.

I might have to sell my MOTW since I can't play it. :crying:

Thanks for the info Raz, do these settings get saved or do I have to always set them before I play? Shit. I gotta wire a test button, I knew I should have put one.

They should save providing your systems backupram is working and the battery is fine.

The newer version has a crc of 2C9C5CD8 in the CRC check.

Oh damn Raz. I forgot to tell everyone that its a fake Mii number. It's actually a phone code. So if you associate the numbers with the letters on the phone pad it spells something out. I believe it was "0000 8447 4263 7825" which translates to "THIS GAME SUCK". I did that because I wanted a Wii but they were sold out everywhere, so I was bitter. BUT I am going to get a Wii very soon and I will post my real number when I get it. Sorry about that bro. It is kinda funny though. :lolz:
