Here's the full list of games:

Arcana Heart (1v1)
Guilty Gear: Accent Core (3v3)
King of Fighters '98 (1v1)
Street Fighter III: Third Strike (3v3)
Soul Calibur 3 (1v1)
Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection (3v3)
Hyper Street Fighter 2 (2v2)
Virtua Fighter 5 (3v3)
Melty Blood: Act Cadenza ver.B (2v2)

A relatively strange comeback of KOF 98, which should be the original MVS version, I guess it has something to do with KOF 98 Ultimate. No atomiswave games this year, maybe it's the final nail on its coffin.

From shoryuken forums.

I'd say the other ones were worth getting, its just that they were expensive as fuck. But with KOF98 added to the equation price is no object.

Actually that depends if the players just whore top tiers for most of the matches.

If so, PASS!

Really hoping for character diversity.

this is definetely gonna be interesting.

I wonder whether top tiers in 98 will be different from those a couple of years ago.

Either way, im kinda glad XI is not there. No hard feeling on that, it's just that I think 2k2 still gets played much more in other places than XI does.

It's an important tournament so people do their best to win, and that includes "top tier whoring". It's normal. In fact, I think in the SBO you have to choose a team at the beginning and stick with it all the time, so you just can't afford filler characters. In adition, all eliminatories are made at one single match, even the final: one mistake and you go home.

Fighting games and competitive play are like this, live with it. All the SBO dvd's I've watched have been won by top tiers. There may be some variate chars in the first round but they don't last long. I still remember the Hokuto no Ken one: half the participants were Tokis, and guess who won.
