Found a loose copy for 15 bucks. I liked Iridion 2, can I expect at least the same gameplay wise? won't have my ds available to later in the week.

I didn't play Iridion 2, but Nanostray was a lot of fun. I liked the touch screen selection of the four weapons, which I thought had some interesting variety. The challenges have completely kicked my ass, though, and I probably only beaten one of two of the missions in there.

You're the only person I know to say that.
Having to touch the screen to change weapons was so troublesome that for the most part I never bothered with it.

For $15, yeah, you get your money's worth. Definitely not as good as Iridion II, however.

It's hard as hell, and really just feels like a generic shooter... I think the title of the game should've just been "Shooter DS", or even just "Shooter". It's still cool though, especially for that type of gameplay on the DS... The first thing that'll go through your mind when you see it is "Ikaruga", I think it has something to do with the graphical style, but not the art style... It's kinda hard to explain. It's definitely worth picking up though.

The gameplay sucks hardcore but if you're not picky or deep into shmups, it can be satisfying in some way. I almost only play shmups and I really don't like it. I played it maybe 25m max before putting in on the self forever but for $15, give it a try, you might like it.

The touchscreen selection is broken as fuck in a shmup but the jp version has a button to switch the weapon.

Finally got to play it, I like it. Of course a handheld shooter is never going to be as good as one for a console, but it offers a decent challenge. Yeah it's tilted forward but it works. It's definitely one of the nicer looking DS games I've played.

Pick it up if you can find a cheap copy.

Yeah it's on the cheap end of the DS games scale here
£15 used, like $28
But i guess if i really feel the need to i'll get a jap one, should be cheaper and has the X weapon flip

And, isn't it one of the only shooters ever made by westerners?

If by Westerners you mean Germans, yeah.

Shin'en is the dev team (yeah, apostrophe is in there), you'd do good to buy Iridion II.

It's just, i dont think anyone outside Japan really cares about making shooters.

And even in nanostray, all the levels are japanese named aren't they? Japanwanktastic.

I have Iridion II and Nanostray. Nanostray has sat on my shelf since about a week after it was launched. It is a very generic shooter. It has good gameplay and graphics, but thats it. No story line, few levels, other than the internet ranking, absolutely no replay value, which if it didn't have internet ranking would have hurt this game immensely.

For $15, its a good game, for full price, i wouldn't pay it, and wish I hadn't.
