Front Mission 1st coming to the DS!

ok i'll start by saying that i love all things front mission. i own every game in the series except the ps2 releases (never owned a ps2) and though i'm excited to see a new portable release and will more than likely pick this up, i can't help but feel a little let down.

first, i already have this game on a portable (wonderswan crystal) and it looks pretty close to the original sfc release.

second, this exact game has now been ported from the sfc to the ps1 wonderswan and now the DS... no reall additions allong the way.

third, actually kind of close to second... there are NO graphical improvements being made here. it's just a port to yet another console.

i really think this series is gold, and i want a portable version sure... but for the love of god square, give us a new game and put the original to bed.

i never played the original and couldn't get into front mission 3 when i had it, so i'll probably give this one a try.

so, not so bad for people like me.

true, but the screens i've seen definately look dated.

you really couldn't get into 3? that's probobly my fav in the series (second only to front mission alternative, though it doesn't really count because of drasticly different play mechanics)

Admittedly I've only played a demo of 4, but I loved it...more than other strat-RPGs like La Pucelle and Growlanser.

I'm not much for RPGs on the go, but for FM, I might make an exception.

The amount of remakes/ports Square is putting out on handhelds is insane.

So, is Front Mission 1st coming to North America, then? If so, awesome. I know it's an ancient port but having something other than the rom will be sweet.

no conformation on a US release... as usual. but here's hope.

Tried to play Front Mission 2 last night (Japanese version) and I had no clue what was going on. 3 and 4 seemed cool though.

2 is tricky to get into, and a little wonky... not the best of the series. i still limped my way through it about 6 years ago just to do it... not all bad in the end.

alternative is by far my favorite. i can still pick that up and play it sometimes... this is more of what i was hoping for with a ds front mission.

i always wanted it on the wonderswan but its kinda hard to find. id probably pick this up
