anyone with interest or info...

i'm having some sound issues with my 4-slot big red cabinet. sometimes there's sound, sometimes there isn't, sometimes it annoying loud sounds. i'm assuming this is a cart problem but was unsure since i'm basically a noob and some carts have sound occasionally, some dont at all (that's why i question the cab). speaker checks test out just fine.

examples:

baseball stars 2; intro sound occasionally, 50/50 probably...game sound is random, either it works or doesnt but never cuts out mid game.

windjammers; sound occasionally, sometimes the tones of the matchup screen continue into the actual gameplay and are very annoying.

I typically just turn the sound down and listen to music or myself think. i know this is probably very vague info on the problem but if anyone has a suggestion, let me know.

Don't push the cart in all the way. As the MVS boards and slots get older, they get very picky on making contact with the carts. A good way to do this is push the cart in all the way, and then back it up maybe a 1/4 - 1/2 cm.

If you try wiggling the carts while you're getting scrambled sound, you might end of with a screeching beeping noise and the system will reset. This will tell you that your carts aren't seated right.

if all else fails, and your still experiencing problems, take the advice from hardmvs, and use rubbing alcohal, and a toothbrush, and scrup out the slot on the motherboard.. this makes sure that there is no extra gunk on the connectors... also above is true as well... After alot of putting in, and pulling out of carts, the connections sometimes dont want to work because they can be bent inwards just slight enough that the cart wont touch. But after hearing what you say, it sounds like a gunk problem, so clean the cart and the motherboard. You can go all out on a cart, and not have to much worrie... You can open up the cart, and put post it nots on the boards inside saying top-up, or w.e. to remember placement, and then use a really pink pencil eraser and erase each tab, then clean it with rubbing alcohal, and put it back together, but about a half an hour wait depending on how much you are worried for a moisture problem causing two contacts to touch at one time. I had the same exact problem, and had to do this with a metal slug two cart I bought off of ebay, it was sooo gummed up, and the eraser made the sound clear as glass.
